believing one is entitled to feel more outraged than other people, simply because one lives nearby is rather exaggerating one's own sense of significance to the case

He expected me to suddenly be sympathetic to his views on capital punishment because he lived in the neighbourhood.
I was just pointing out that my mate was murdered, and I still didn't think that capital punishment would be an acceptable punishment.
i think you'll find if you re-read the thread carefully that the post you quote was a response to sir.prize's assertion that living nearby elevated the effect of the crime
