The letters 'EDL' were apparently graffitied onto a wall when this mosque was burnt down. Does anyone else smell a rat? I wouldn't be surprised if radical muslims had done this to implicate the EDL, just like when the EDL attacked the war memorial last week and sprayed 'Islam' on it.
It's definitely either that, or something else.

I agree it is definitely either that - or something else.

Yep, agree it's definitely that or something else.
Do you mean like something else with the initials EDL?
very likely poor spellers from DHL.

djh, I mean it's probably what I said, or something different. For example, maybe an islamist attacked the war memorial, and the EDL attacked the mosque.
I know it sounds crazy, but you never know.
so, the they did the graffiti before they set fire to the mosque? How would they know that the graffiti would survive the blaze? Could it perhaps have been added after the fire was put out? In which case, how did the fire brigade and police not spot the EDL person writing it?

I'm the one asking the questions here Dot. Start your own thread.
The incendiaries might have been proud of their handiwork and signed their mark.
the only question you asked was 'does anyone else smell a rat' and so i'm just bringing the topic back on track as it was starting to stray.
The graffiti was sprayed a few days ago. Then the fire occured later.

Just because someone sprayed EDL on a building and then it burns down days later does not necessarily mean the EDL or their supporters did this.

We shall have to wait.

It would be extremely stupid for the EDL to sign their handy work before commiting a crime. What kind of thicko would do that? I mean, that would be so incredibly dim, surely an EDL supporter would not want to bring this legitimate protest group into disrepute.

Anyhow, they will have been fully insured, so a bigger, better Islamic Centre, will rise from the ashes. It would be a tad ironic, if that were to happen because of a crime committed by an EDLer.
"graffitied onto a wall"

Never seen 'graffiti' used as a verb before. I was under the impression that it was the plural of the noun 'graffito'.

I agree, either that, something else, or the other thing.
Mmm, definitely one or t'other.
Sadly, "Dirty Tricks" are all too common these days, and the scrawled EDL could easily be such a gesture.

Without further evidence, it cannot be used as a pointer to the arsonist IMHO.

P.S. In my experience, some members of the EDL are thick enough to sign their law-breaking.

as already been mentioned the man on cctv seemingly spraying the memorials didn't look like he would belong to EDL, and why would someone burn down their own mosque. This is all conspiracy theories, i hope who did both are caught soon, and punished accordingly
EDL did NOT deface the war memorial by writing islam on it.

Arsonist of mosque is stirring race relations by writing inflamatory graffiti. imo
someone scrawled another message on the memorial which seems to have escaped some people's notice, it was brought up on here yesterday, the message sprayed in green ink was the murderers of Lee Rigby should hang, or something similar..
