Whereas it was completely wrong for a pregnant woman to be attacked by two men, In a separate incident Was it right for the French police to be attacked by a mob of 60 for enforcing the French burkha ban?

i wonder that whilst countries in the Middle East and beyond are searching for democracy, overthrowing dictators, we are getting more undemocratic.
I know our political system remains largely democratic, at least for now, but look at the plans in place to spy on all it's citizens, where whatever government department if it wants can intercept e mails, phone calls, and internet access, not to mention the millions of CCTV cameras everywhere. All in the name of our protection, this has nothing to do with the original post but i wonder some don't see that whilst we are wishing and hoping for democracy in these foreign lands, we are having ours slowly taken away.
It's not having the information, it's what our government does with it.If and while our government and its agencies remain accountable to us , there is no problem.
well i for one don't like being spied up by cctv - nor the thought of the Americans being able to use their technology to spy on British citizens, it's wrong on every level. The usual nonsense is, well if you have done nothing wrong, surely that;s the wrong attitude, innocent of all charge until proven guilty, that has been our motto for a long time.
Why is "If you have done nothing wrong..." nonsense? If you have done something wrong, the prosecution still have to prove it. It's not much of an objection to say that you should be able to keep the evidence concealed as a human right.

/// We have better things to do than worry about something that will never happen, but it would help if we had some idea of the date on which we are to succumb to the Islamic hordes. ///

Why would anyone want to know the date of when we are to succumb to the Islamic hordes, if one is so certain it will never happen?

/// French are a strange race by all accounts ///

That is rich coming from a person that is encouraging integration, how can we ever have that when you have this attitude towards your fellow Europeans, it can only be likened to saying that "Islam is a strange religion by all accounts"?
Anotheoldgit, you are one those who worry about the colour and religion of the majority of those who live the UK and England in particular. When do you think Christians will be a minority and when do you think white English will be in a minority?
"Prof Coleman said [white Britons being a minority before 2070] does not factor in the impact of current or future government attempts to reduce net migration." If he is ignoring what is happening at the moment and future proposals, how is it a realistic forecast?
aog, I'm certain it won't happen but I thought to test the logic and calculations of those who think it will, by asking when the Islamic hordes would outnumber us. Does that make sense to you? It ought to.
Start by banning them from shops and public places now before it is to late I go to Dubai and you don't see that many woman wearing the burkha
