Charles Saatchi has got his wife, Nigella Lawson by the throat in a restaurant in London. Criticism is being levelled at onlookers who didn't intervene. Would you intervene between man and wife in this situation?

Ladybirder - didn't I say so - good mon for the photographer
Conne, you described it as a publicity stunt, that suggests the subjects benefit.

Scott's is a well known and frequently has paparazzi hanging around.
Saatchi has described the incident as a playful tiff.

Well he would wouldn't he. Sorry, just had to say it.
worth pointing out that all this happened a week before. The pictures were presumably sat on because a Sunday paper was going to publish them

So the family stayed together for that week. She only left after the photos were published. He says that was to get the kids away from the media scrum. He could well be right.
he has been cautioned by the police, so they did take it seriously

I was just about to post the same em. I wonder if their marriage will survive this.
from what i was reading yesterday they have a very volatile relationship, would be interesting if his ex wives say whether he was like that before. Personally i would walk, i wouldn't get around the fact he did it. Not playful or funny as for some reason somebody suggested.
Question Author
Hmmm. I read yesterday the wife before Nigella, his first I believe, divorced him for unreasonable behaviour. Those words could hide a multitude of sins I think.
unreasonable could be a string of mistresses, or violence, quite honestly if that was me it would be the last time he did it, i would be gone and filing for divorce.
Question Author
So would I em. Lots of women hang on because they have nowhere to go to and no support. I'm sure neither of these things apply to Nigella who has had a very successful career.
It was Scotland Yard who gave him the caution, he has explained it away as a playful tiff, good grief...
He sure comes across as a big bully.
she must be pretty wealthy in her own right.. she may think it best to stay put for the children, who knows...
Question Author
On the news just now I heard she has still not returned home since the pictures of her leaving with a suitcase. That doesn't mean it's permanent of course. Who knows what goes on in any marriage!
i would go - no one has the right to do that.
Who knows what goes on in a marriage...exactly.

We are just onlookers in this, not knowing the full facts.

Could it be that HE has found out that SHE is having an affair?

Just a thought.
of course, it must be her fault
Big bad bully..rich and thinks he can flout normal behaviour expected in society...what's he like behind the front door if he's like this in public ?...nasty bit of work !
I agree with Sqad. This is only a tiny snippet into their life. Too many conclusions are being jumped to.
