Given his recent medical history and his age, not unsurprising. It will be sad when he goes - dignified man, played a part in changing - well, the world, in some respects.

It is a shame he is in hospital. He should be at home surrounded by his loved ones and allowed to pass away gently and peacefully. Not in the discomfort of an hospital.

He's an old and sick man it's not like he's going to die in a sleep that isn't drug induced.

I agree with you ferlew. At that age and with pneumonia I would want to be let go.

According to an interview that I saw one of his daughters give about six weeks ago he doesn't talk anymore and and doesn't really respond to people around him so this is a natural course his body is taking and he should be made comfortable on his way and not try to ring him back as there isn't much of his spirit left.

he probably has been hooked to all manner of machines, he would have died i am sure without it, if he has severe lung problems, then breathing apparatus at least.

Yes, I hope when the time comes we can refrain from the outpouring of vitriol that followed a recent high profile passing. I for one am not one of Mr Mandela's worshipers but I won't be rejoicing.

Well I think without Nelson Mandella (and to a slightly lesser extent F.W. de Klerk) the passing of the old apartheit regieme would have been significantly more bloody.
