Why are people still banging on about this?

It's a done deal. It's been voted for by MPs and ratified by the House of Lords.

Shouldn't we now focus on the economy? Is this not the view expressed by so many Dailymailers before the vote?

Yes, and the practice is well established in modern times. For example , the Theft Act 1968 has the words "if he appropriates property", but that doesn't stop the prosecution of women for stealing.
