// Nadhim Zahawi, MP for Stratford-Upon-Avon, argued that the move makes sense economically and that a 'seismic' shift in policy is needed for the Conservatives to attract votes among minority groups.//
Are the Tories at last realizing that they have very little support in the country ?

It is a ridiculous idea, and the reasons given for suggesting it highlights the opportunistic nature of some politicians who are even happy to suggest those who have broken the law, and a law accepted as being right, should be left alone in order to make a political gain. The real problem is that they have failed to stop the numbers of illegal immigrants and now have too large a problem to deal with. Shame on them. Were there any justice Nadhim Zahawi and those who agree with him would now be thrown out of their political party as having brought it into disrepute (were such an act possible).
hang on a minute. If folk are here already, especially if they are married with children it would be a Court of Human Rights problem to get them out now - certainly hugely expensive and almost certain to be unsuccessful.
Why not compromise - anyone who has a job, is settled and regularly paying taxes and who hasn't committed a crime here can have conditional citizenship for five years and become a citizen after that if still lawabiding and contributing to the community and the Inland revenue. But they are not to bring in adult dependants later.

The word "ILLEGAL" says it all. Round up and deport. I should think most of the people agreeing with this wally of an MP must have similar surnames. ! Maybe the Tories have come to realise they are going to be toast at the next election and are now in panic mode and scrambling around for minority votes. Satisfy a minority.... lose the majority.
it;s not just a Tory matter though is it, even if they gave an amnesty to all these people, don't you have to have a permanent address to vote.. what makes the bloke think they want to vote for anyone... if they don't speak the language, that would be a problem too, also not knowing our voting system, seems a stupid thing to think or do.
