Mandela hasn't ruled in South Africa for nearly 15 years. He belongs to the same era as Thatcher, they were about at the same time.
Just as it would be ludicrous to suggest that the UK will descend into chaos because Thatcher has died, it is daft to predict South Africa will when Mandela dies.
There is still a large disparity between the wealthy and the poor. The minority white population still have most of the wealth. Which increases the chance they will be targeted for robbery.

Mandela was in jail till 1990, MrsT was not in power then, not sure how they are the same era gromit. I don't think Mandela's death is relevant to the breakdown in South Africa, that's been going on slowly since 1994, it edges ever closer to anarchy and chaos I don't think Mandela's death will effect that.
I would beg to differ on who has the bulk wealth gromit. And the blacks are not known for their charitable nature so they hold on to what they have and aren't shy to display the ostentatious trappings of their wealth. I think the labour unrest, drop in the gold price etc is going to have more to bear on the economy than Mandela.
No I wasn't born here but have lived here for 36 years. I saw the tale end of smiths rule, and have seen the steady decline of the country due to greed and corruption. Living in town we have a fairly normal day to day life. Yes you do have to be wary of your surroundings so that you don't get robbed at the traffic lights or at home at night. We do live behind large walls with electric fences rapid response alarms and do have weapons in the house but it not everyday and not rioting on the streets. With elections coming up the people in the rural areas with face intimidation and violence but the is the African way and nothing is going to change it.
Other than mugabes campaigne against whites there isn't open hostility. I think that the masses know that things are better working for a white boss or have morse chance of begging a dollar off a white than black but it is their country and they have the right to govern themselves and you get the government you deserve.
If you are to average out monthly incomes those figures may be appropriate and yes there are some whites that are very wealthy and there are a lot more whose monthly wage would be closer to R16000.00 and some who don't make 9000. And the same goes for the African. Yes the African population is much larger so it stands to reason that more will be employed in lower income jobs but two people working together in a company doing the same job on the same grade will receive the same income the law provides for that except of you are a woman. You can't employ two people one black and one white to do the same job and pay them differently.
