This chap appears to be somewhat annoyed that he has been given a life time ban from teaching. But what other penalty would be appropriate for a man whose actions were described by the Department of Education as "violent, threatening and targeted at young children."

He now has a new job away from teaching... // Adam Walker has been appointed as Staff Manager for the British National Party's centrally paid staff and for the staff of MEPs Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons, it has been announced. // (he is being paid by the Euro taxpayer). Maybe come next years Euro Elections, he fears for his future job prospects? The incident...

i can see why they would ban him, but it shouldn't be for his political views, that is if he isn't openly expounding those views, however what i find odd that the teaching governing bodies have not banned paedophile teachers, that is as bad if not worse.
// He said "This sets a dangerous precedent. We're talking about the realms of thought crime."//

The guy's a loony. How can slashing bike tyres be classed as a thought crime?
"the teaching governing bodies have not banned paedophile teachers"

Got any examples of that?

Not sure Em if and when the teaching governing bodies haven't banned paedophiles...details please ?
they knew about this man's shennanigans and didn't do anything, and it does not say that he will never teach again.

Even though he was disciplined in the past for something he wrote on-line, his politics seem to be irrelevant to this ban which has been imposed because his actions were "violent, threatening and targeted at young children." Not the actions of someone I'd want teaching my children.

The incident that got him banned does sound shocking. Dangerous driving, capturing children, criminal damage (he must have been carrying a knife), all because hey said something that annoyed him. Can't say I'd like him to be my child's teacher.

Apparently, he has campaigned for years against the teaching authorities for the right of teachers to be BNP members, and has won. He has been a thorn in their side for years, and when they saw this violent crime against children, they seized on it to get rid of him for good.
em10 He chased 2 boys in his car and tried to run them over , he has been charged with dangerous driving , banned from driving and fined in addition to being banned from teaching. He had another warning for racist abuse earlier as well.
Em10,
Not a very good example. Forest was not a paedaphile. When he was convicted (for other offences) he was sent to jail. The authorities did not continue to employ him.

This man is clearly unsuitable to be in charge of any aspect of kids' education, as he has clearly shown himself to capable of violent acts towards them. But as a member of the BNP, I wouldn't want him near any children either. The BNP is a nasty, fascist, racist organization and its representatives should be combated at every opportunity.
it doesn't necessarily follow that if you have a criminal conviction that you will be excluded from teaching again, and there have been known cases where teacher have been caught abusing children, suspended, or sacked, then they have simply applied elsewhere for a job because the matter was not see as criminal by the school. So free to work elsewhere.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/teacher-network/teacher-blog/2013/may/22/convictions-cautions-teaching-job

so that is not a good case, he was known to the authorities, caught holding hands with the girl on a flight to LA, she wasn't 15 then, and the school was told, so why wasn't he reprimanded or sacked.
there is nothing in the rule book from that Guardian link to suggest that when he is finished his jail term he won't be able to teach again.
em10 the peadophile teacher got a 5 & 1/2 year sentence that means he will be on the sex offenders register for life and have the offence on his CRB check for life he can NEVER teach or have a job with vulnerable people again. There does not need to be a separate ban he is automatically banned for life as anyone with such a conviction would be.
the BNP guy isn't the sort to be teaching anyone, however his politics shouldn't play a part in any dismissal, criminal action i totally agree, if he has moved on that is just as well.

The issue of Forrest has nothing whatsoever to do with the BNP teacher Em, so I not sure why you are bringing the story up again. We have discussed Forrest here on AB ad nauseum in recent weeks.

Just a point of order but CRBs are now DBSs (which I'm sure Aston Martin aren't happy about)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disclosure_and_Barring_Service
em10, also any sentence of over 5 years or over ( he got 5 1/2) is NEVER 'spent' so that will be on his record for life, he will be lucky to get any job never mind a job that needs a CRB check.
Oh well.
this isn't good, i am suggesting that there are plenty of evidence that people who have committed crimes, from what would be perceived as low level, to sexual abuse of children are still in mainstream schools, that as someone pointed out if you have a CRB check now, and commit a crime the day after it isn't going to show up.

Not sure that backs up your argument em. It only refers to criminal records, not crimes committed.
