When I was little, there used to be signs on buses saying "no spitting" - it's a vile practice, I blame footballers - they do it, you see it on TV, then the lads think it's OK to do it too. It's vile, and inhygenic.

The British Railways Board by laws stated that it was an offence to spit anywhere on the railway including the permanent way ( track ), in 35 years I have seen many people spit but no one charged.

A few years ago I was walking around in a local town and four teenage boys were walking towards me on of them was spitting (though not intended for me) however as it was a windy day he missed his target of the pavement and guess what? Yes, my coat got it! Yuk!!
