Yes. And your heart goes out to his surviving sister too, who knows what that child's been through

It's easy to rush to judgement on the apparent non-involvement of agencies like social services and the school here. It might be better to wait for the serious case review findings particularly when Mrs Justice Cox specifically commented:

//Both of you constructed a careful and wholly untruthful account that Daniel had a serious eating disorder and learning difficulties, which he may have inherited and for which he was receiving medical treatment. This account was deliberately designed to prevent interference by school, medical and welfare personnel, and to perpetuate the brutality being meted out to him. You instructed and encouraged Daniel's older sister to tell lies to the authorities if she were asked any questions about what was happening at home.//

Full sentencing remarks are here

No, not really. There's no punishment that could be imposed on them that would make up for what they did. Sometimes that's the way it is unfortunately.
No, they should be hung, after spending 10 years on death row thinking about it.

If we cant have hanging then life should mean life.
No, justice has not been served.
According to the Daily Mail the step father had already been in jail 3 times in this country, and arrested 6 times for assault, burglary etc.

Pity we did not send him back to Poland after the first time in prison.

Now a poor child has lost their life.

And we in the UK have to pay for both of these people to be in prison for 30 years.

And pay to look after the surviving child.

All thanks to our membership of the EU.
Never mind VHG, I'm sure valuable lessons have been learned by those who failed to do their jobs time and again.......
I've just seen her mother talking on the news and she says it's the fault of other Britons and we should all share the punishment!!!! ????? I sincerely hope they live out their miserable wretched lives in fear. Death would be far too good for them.

No, it would be appropriate and save the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds over the next 30 years.
Systematic abuse, torture, neglect and ultimately the murder of the most vulnerable member of society deserves the death penalty, nothing less.
Given the likely reaction of other prisoners, they are likely to be 30+ pretty unpleasant years.
Chili, I totally understand that sentiment, I really do, but they would suffer just a short period of fear and then it would be over. Far better I think, to wonder if their food is safe to eat or has it been "got at" by another prisoner needing the toilet (it happens), are the stairs going to be slippery today? No, they need to live in fear just as that poor little by did.
I too wish them 30 fearfull, unpleasant, frightening times in prison just how their little boy had. Also with them hoping that they even get fed!
3 meals a day, warm showers, full sanitation in a segregated part of the prison and TV privileges in a short while(not forgetting their Human Rights too).
Everything that little boy never had in his final weeks of life.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll suffer......

Oh they will! And they'll be treated like the stinking cowards they are.
They can thank their lucky stars that the State is, in some ways, more civilised that it was, say, sixty years ago.

obviously this will never happen, but given that they are both polish citizens, wouldn't it make sense to return them to Poland to serve their time there, I do wonder how much it will cost us ( the tax payer ) to keep them in the british prison system for at least 30 years ?
I wish to add that its a pity they dont have to do hard labour to earn their keep in prison! Bet they can laze about and enjoy tele and internet etc?
