I guess we shouldn't speculate until the Serious Case Review reports.

but generally it doesn't keep on happening, he sustained more injuries than would be expected, a broken arm is one thing, and bruising, black eyes, and weighed over a stone when he died, did no one think to simply
not take the word of these two..
if a woman presented herself to the police with those sustained injuries, chances are she would have been shown to the nearest refuge for battered women. Because he was only 4 how could he, but others noticed and did nothing.

Whatever happens ,and ,it'll be the usual ,.."lessons will be learnt etc " someones head will roll and that will be it .I'm glad that pair will rot in prison.I hope they never let them out .In my heart of hearts I'd wish worse for them but we have to let justice take it's course .
You would have thought that after baby P and other child abuse murders that social workers ,teachers etc would have been more on the ball at signs of abuse .They must have been very devious and accomplished liars to get past anyone asking questions .
He was such a little darling looking at his photo ....how could anyone treat a little child like that .It beggars belief .Bless him .

Pixie...can't agree with you at all. This dreadful woman and her partner were extremely clever in hiding all that went on. Also, as has been said earlier today, this abuse happened in a short time, not spread over years.
One aspect that I hope the case review will recommend is some joined-up thinking in the future. If the police, school, social services, and perhaps the neighbours concerns had been put together, in one place, then enough alarm bells would have been rung. Instead, one hand didn't know know what all the others were doing. This has been found before on previous cases involving cruelty to kids but we appear to have learned very little.

don't look at the link if you don't want to know the full extent of his injuries, i can't see how anyone missed some of these. I read this before and since, and still wonder how anyone could do it, monsters the pair of them
