Does anyone else that think that this BNP-lite twit looks like Victor Meldrew ?

Just heard him being interviewed by Naughty on the Today program. There is a phrase that goes something like " when you are in a hole, stop digging" but he seems unaware of what he saying !

Re: your post of 09:40...I think the point is that most people would discuss the matter of foreign aid as you have in that post.

You referred to Pakistan, rather than using some childish term like 'Curryland'.

Mr Bloom has made the mistake of using a term which concentrates the mind on the language used, rather than the content.

By the way mikey4444 - he really, really DOES look like Richard Wilson.

Thank you for your comments...but note, I said his comments were 'virtually' unworthy of our attention.

The crux of the matter is that his words have now become the story, rather than the content...as I went on to mention later.
What a lot of controversy over nothing, just another media attack on a political party that dares to contest the usual comfortable 'all boys together' club of the three party system.

Interesting to note however that the Left who are forever going on about the correct language to use come out with this sort of thing.

/// Disgusting language from anybody let alone a representative of a political party ///

Only to be followed by,

/// The big difference between Victor Meldrew and this twit ///

/// He is a well known nutter, pi55head and ex Army ///

/// Those transatlantic limeys (Yanks of course) would say: the interviewer was handed his a+se. ///

/// He is typical of the ragbag bundle of misfits and the swivel-eyed that Farage has tried to coral into a creditable political party. For be it for me to feel any sympathy for Farage but it must be like herding cats. Maybe Dave was right when he described them as "fruitcakes, loonies, and
closet-racists" ///

And finally these wise words

/// the Egyptians voted in Morsi (not a wise choice for the minorities) ///

Most likely meaning that we should be scared to vote in the UKIP if that is what the 'MAJORITY' want, throw democracy out of the window, and let us consider the 'MINORITIES' and what they want.

I am guessing from previous posts on the subject that you broadly agree with Mr Bloom's sentiments on foreign aid...however, if you were a UKIP politician, wouldn't you use the term 'Africa' or 'Pakistan' rather than 'Bongo Bongo Land'?

Do you not think that the media is attacking Mr Bloom's words or UKIP in general?
If anyone else is interested in what is now deemed offensive they should read this, especially the kids hand game called "I went to a Chinese restaurant".

Long time since I heard that AOG. A bit of a leftie song though don't you think?

// They have things like the atom bomb
So I think I'll stay where I am
Civilization, I'll stay right here //

Basically the savage is saying we are uncivilised and we can stick our Nuclear weapons.
AOG,
I take it you never listened to "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive" .

/// .however, if you were a UKIP politician, wouldn't you use the term 'Africa' or 'Pakistan' rather than 'Bongo Bongo Land'? ///

What does it matter I agree with this poster who put,

/// brilliant - a politician that speaks the language of the people. Most people i know hold those views and speak that language, a trend that is only bucked in internet land. ///

/// we are so used to politicians that speak with a forked tongue, lie to us and sugar coat it to get votes. this man makes no apology for how he is - a breath of fresh air ///

Some of us are often classed as "little Englanders" and England is often called "Blighty" should we also be offended

/// Do you not think that the media is attacking Mr Bloom's words or UKIP in general? ///

The media couldn't really care about Mr Blooms words, they have used much worse in the past, no they are just taking any excuse to belittle a party that dares to oppose the general establishment, just as politicians from the other three parties will do, I refer to Cameron's words, "fruitcakes, loonies, and closet-racists".
AOG

Don't you think it would have made more sense for Mr Bloom to say what he means (Africa, Pakistan) rather than using a strangely archaic and pejorative term?
AOG

"brilliant - a politician that speaks the language of the people"

Are you saying that people you know use the term 'Bongo Bongo Land'?

I'm going to have to ask this, because I don't actually know anyone of Mr Bloom's vintage - is this an age thing? Do older people still use that term?
I am still laughing at this notion of a "plucky" UKip "daring" to contest the political arena with the "big 3".

About as hard as I am laughing at Blooms notion that spending money on foreign aid is treasonous behaviour.
Before we go any further, can we be sure this isn't a theme park somewhere, and he was referring to that?
We should rule probably rule that possibility out before condemning the man.
ludwig

Hang on...you might be right.

Wasn't the theme park at Margate called 'Bongo Bongo Land'?

I hope we're not libeling them...
If his remarks were directed at his own constituency they won't do him any harm.
..if it's in Margate they need all the aid they can get.
Nope...we're okay.

Just Googled it.

It was called Bembom Brothers Amusement Park. And it was quite fantastic...back in those days you could get candy floss on a stick, rather than in a plastic bag, and don't get me started on their toffee apples and fried doughnuts...

Ahh...the fried doughnuts.

...err...what were we talking about...?
I think the Bembom Brothers now run a dictatorship near Liberia. They sent a poster to Alan Clarke that said Gagnez avec Bembom.
Good article sp. It cuts through the nonsense and puts it all into perspective.
I've done a bit more googling on the Bembom brothers SP. Apparently they used to be in a firm of solicitors with the president of the Ivory coast, called 'Bembom Bembom Bembom Bembom and Bongo'.

They went out of business because it was taking them too long to answer the phone. If there'd only been the two brothers and not four, they might have stood a chance.
