While they try and lead us down the path of offensive words, this is what the real and much more serious problem is, that they try to avert our eyes from.

/// Last night a spokesman for the Department for International Development said spending aid money in Nigeria would help cut crime and illegal immigration in Britain. ///

And how does he think that?

SP, he wasn’t referring to Africa per se. He was referring to corrupt regimes in Third World countries. Whilst I agree that politicians should be guarded in what they say, frankly as far as corrupt administrations are concerned – be it Mr Mugabe’s Zimbabwe, Kim Jong Un’s North Korea, or any other tin pot crooked regime, I don’t believe they warrant...

/// ANOTHEOLDGIT, do you consider you are superior to Australian
Aborigines? ///

I don't see why you picked out Aborigines specifically, but if you refer to those of them that roam in the bush, then yes I do taking into consideration my lifestyle and my chances to fulfil my aspirations compared to theirs.

As regards this country of ours, there are many from abroad who must also consider this country superior to their own, why else do they wish to come here in their tens of thousands?
///do you consider you are superior to Australian
Aborigines? ///
.... "if you refer to those of them that roam in the bush, yes I do"

But could you find water to enable you to survive if lost in the Outback?

AOG, and it's unfortunate that Britain is inferior to the United States. Do you feel inferior to Americans? You should do, shouldn't you? Their country is richer, the average income is higher, the citizens retain more of their income after direct and indirect taxes than we do, the GDP per head is higher than ours. You must be inferior; your criterion is financial, is it not, since that is the dominant reason for foreigners to come here?

Imaginge you were journeying through the Outback and your car broke down. You have forgotten to charge your mobie 'phone so you can't tell anyone where you are. Who would fare better, those who roam in the bush or you with your superior lifetsyle and aspirations?
Aborigines: "my lifestyle and my chances to fulfil my aspirations compared to theirs" is why you consider yourself superior AOG?

Are you conceding that, but for the happy circumstance of being born here, you are no different? Had you been in their situation, you would have fared no better? That there is, in short, no inherent superiority in being of your race?
Khandro, that was the point I was leading to (as you can see from the post) but my laptop froze and your answer was not there when I started.
For those of you who wish to support terrorists & despots there will be thousands of oppertunities without picking the pockets of those that don't,
"But could you find water to enable you to survive if lost in the Outback? "
Yes, I'd borrow Naomi's dowsing rods.
Actually, that raises an interesting point v_e; if dowsing rods really worked and are based on such low technology, why are they not found among tribal communities living in desert conditions on whom finding water is of such necessity?
no coat hangers.
Can't argue with that Khandro.
They don't even have coats.
Ha ha! Daft pair! Moses struck a rock to produce water – so don’t knock it - so to speak. ;o)

Not the place to continue this discussion, Khandro, but if you google, there are several bits about dowsing in desert areas.

Sorry for the slight diversion, AOG – but V-E and Svejk did make me laugh. :o)
v_e; It's such a pity, they got the first part right, but instead of throwing them around in the forlorn hope that they might return, all they needed was to add that last little hook in the centre.
