Errrr...let me think about that for a moment.

That's long enough !

Yes, of course we are seeing some Islamophobia in Britain !
Yes !
Some of the DVDs were addressed to His Wonderous Cleric of Islam, making it appear to contain something positive.

The spelling makes it appear to contain something from Ukip.

Yes, Islamophobia is on the increase.

Yes, I think we are!
Doesn't really come as a surprise though surely?
As always that stupid Greek word has two meanings. do you mean 'Fear of Islam' or 'Hatred of Islam' ?

Suspicion of Islam?
No I don't think so. At most those who always felt that way may feel they have the excuse to become more active. But those who realise this is not rational remain much as they were.
In the wake of events over the past several years, it’s surely no surprise to anyone that Islam is the only religion to have the word ‘phobia’ tacked on to the end of it. As Baldric says, suspicion is rather more appropriate than ‘phobia’ – but ‘Islamosuspicion’ is a bit of a mouthful. ;o)
I thinkit has always been there, often fuelled by 'right-on' thinking and the appearance of one rule for muslims and nother for the rest of us.

Is it becoming more vocal? Quite possibly.

This will be of no surprise to anyone who does not wear rose tinted liberal spectacles.
my daughter went on a hen night to blackpool 2 weekends ago, the girls all dressed as belly dancers with veils over their lower faces. One nightclub told them to drop the veils or they couldn't go in apparently. Most were not bothered at all mind. A couple of the party are right clumpers, I would have thought they'd have been barred for the expanse of uncovered flesh but then we are talking blackpool
Islamophobia in Europe is centuries old but it is comming out more now. As I mentioned in another thread that in Europe 1000s books have been written in the past few centuries to defame Islam. In recent times media has made it their full time job to pick on anything small of large where they can give Islam a bad advertisement. But on the other hand few people are still worried that despite of all that Islam is still on the rise in Europe and the West. And that is the reason they are going out of their ways to oppose Islam. One example is here where a very well known poster posted a question. Just read what her own response to the question is.

I deplore those who put the bombs on our streets, fanatics did that, they happened to be Muslims, that didn't help the cause did it.

1000's of books, where do these people get the time to defame Islam, whilst you have Islamic followers denouncing cartoons, threatening to kill Salman Rushdie, and sundry other unsavoury acts of violence, not to forget the charmers who walked around the East End of London telling people that it was their area and to keep out, surprised they didn't add infidel to that. plus the likes of Anjem Choudary and his followers spouting bilge there will be Sharia Law in Britain and that the so far non existent Islamic flag will one day fly over Parliament, come on, this isn't even remotely funny. Women walking around covered head to toe in the Burkha and veil, this is Britain, remember that when you are spouting your dogma. A country that so far has bent over backwards to accommodate people from many nations.
there has been a decided campaign against Christians if you think about it, how many times have they been sidelined over issues, say gay rights, Christian couples who run B&B have been had up in court for their beliefs, a woman did not a right to wear a crucifix at work, and so on. I am not much in the way of being a believer but i do think that Christianity gets just as bad a press, some of it is undoubtedly like some of the followers of Islam, is self inflicted. I remember posting on here once, about some ads in a newspaper for rooms/apartments to let, and they clearly stated Muslims only, how can one get away with that i wonder.
Keyplus, books written in Europe don’t need to defame Islam. Islamic fundamentalists who consider its own literature to be beyond criticism have succeeded in doing that.
Keyplus, actually, I’m going to add to that. You don’t consider yourself to be a fundamentalist; nevertheless you have, on these very pages, said among other things that Muslims don’t come to the west for a better life but to show westerners ‘the way’, that Islam will one day rule, and that you would like to see the flag of Islam flying over Downing Street. How do you think westerners feel when they see fundamentalists blowing people up, and when they hear people like you, who claim to be ‘moderates’ saying what you say? Why are you surprised that anti-Islamic feeling exists in the west?
I agree with emmie - I'd say there's a growing anti-religion movement in the UK - which is something I find refreshing and gives me some level hope. As a religion, there's an awful lot to criticize about Islam.

But I do think there's a growing anti-Arab sentiment, so to speak, largely because the words "Arab" and "Muslim", are starting to become interchangeable with "Pedophile" and "Suicide Bomber" in the heads of a large section of the Great Braindead British public. And, as usual, the press does nothing to question it.

Kromo...be very careful here. You last post is just the sort of thing that will get you banned. Your phrase was completely unacceptable.
There are times when swearing is entirely acceptable.
In a conversation in a Pub perhaps but not here on AB. Read the guidelines at the top of the page.
