Assuming he walked in on what he claims to have, if it were you, what would you have done?
ummmm - I'd have done exactly the same - but ...

I would never consider my action a 'great result' as ck1 puts it.

I would have to live with the twin nightmares of trying to get my daughter past what had been done to her, together with what I had done in taking the life of another person.

There are no winners in this - only losers, and anyone who thinks this is 'justice' is possessed of a basic 'frontier' mentality that has not place in a civilised society.
Here he'd be acquitted as acting in self-defence (which extends to defending family) or only convicted of manslaughter (by diminished responsibility)
I'd have done the same, I'd only have 2 nightmares if I didn't kill the bastard who did that to my child
You have to take into account that you can kill someone with a single punch.

If it was my daughter, no hesitation. I think the great result is that he hasn't been charged with murder.

///Under the law in the state of Texas deadly force is authorized and justified in order to stop an aggravated sexual assault or sexual assault///

Taking the above quote into consideration, what Law did the Father break?
He even 'phoned to try and get help for the man, who minutes beforehand had been raping his child!
Based on the points I made ck1, i doubt if this father is in a mood to see his non-charge as a 'great result' as you put it.
