This is the basis of the legal argument......she is NOT or for a short period of time, a mentally balanced person....it being accepted that she was mentally imbalanced to cause her to dispose of her child.

So, as you say.....who knows what psychological trauma the woman may suffer?......or not.

AOG - first of all thank you for highlighting this case. I had wrongly presumed that a crime committed in these circumstances would not bring a custodial sentence.

The judge in the original trial - Judge Kate Thirlwall - said: "You have expressed your remorse and I accept it is genuine." I was presuming that the mother still feels this remorse.

Oh please don't play the 'right guy' and a defender of rightfulness, rudeness and offensiveness.

I would not have to do much of a search to find examples where certain ABers are constantly insisting that they are right and will dish out masses of offensiveness and rudeness against me, yet there are very few who do not or perhaps dare not also criticise them for their actions.

AOG, just an observation, and I am sure you will not agree, but you do seem to have a persecution complex. Your posts generate lively debates, but you should not take it personally if people disagree with you.

This thread is a good example. The majority of people agree with the Appeal Court judges and disagree with you. That does not mean we are being rude or offensive to you. We are entitled to our view just as much you are yours.

I do not expect people to agree with me but I do expect them to be civil towards me, and refrain from insulting me, accusing me of being racist, homophobic, bigoted etc, etc and turning my words into things I have not said.

And it was not their opinions I disagreed with, I simply took offence with certain persons trying to read into my thread more than what I actually said, and this included the fact that no one addressed my actual question, which I won't bother to copy and paste yet again because it is there for everyone to read, and of course the matter of the head covering of the woman, yet one more accusation of racism where none exists.

Many people addressed your question in the early postings on this thread, me included. We (many) believe the sentence was too long or should never have been brought, and said so. It may not have been the answer you wanted, but we cannot be accused of not answering it.
