Was this college right to make this ruling?

/// Imaani Ali, 17, believes the ban on veils is a breach of her freedom ///

There are many things in life that breach our 'FREEDOM' Imaani Ali, they are mainly called 'RULES'.

/// the Mail uses the word "security" in its headline but the college has not. They just talk about providing a "safe and welcoming environment". They give no reason why a niqab might be unsafe. ///

All of the following and all appertaining to security.

/// 'All prospective and progressing students, as well as staff, have been advised of the policy, which will mean everyone allowed on the premises can understand and know each other in a safe environment.' ///

/// Anna Dorj, 18, who is studying business, said: 'I believe it is good for security. You can’t see their face and it is hard to communicate with them.' ///

/// Judge Peter Murphy said the principle of open justice overrode her beliefs, and warned there was a risk a different person could go into the dock pretending to be her. ///

for the avoidance of doubt , which ' baz' are you agreeing with ?
each country has some kind of 'dress code',we should follow that when we go places, and follow ours here
It's not a 'dress code'

Covering the arms or legs is a 'dress code'
wearing a head scarf or hat is a 'dress code'

Concealing one's face from others is more fundamental than that

/// sp1814, it's true, I never quite know which anti-niqab thread I'm on. ///

You are not wearing one are you jno, because If you read the reports then you would not fail to know which anti-Niqab thread you are on.

But I will help you out, this one is about Birmingham Metropolitan College banning a Muslim student from wearing a Niqab.

The one previous was about some MPs who have tabled a bill making it illegal to wear "face coverings" in public.
aog, I repeat, the college has not used the word "security".
aog, there was also the one about the judge. And a few about the French. I will leave you to recall if you started any of them yourself.

makes little difference whether or not I started them, but it seems obvious now that you no longer can't tell which thread you are on, well done.

Maybe not in those very words but most of us can work out that "the safety for their students" is about making them secure from harm, hence security.
well even Senator Kennedy sent someone in to do his French exam for him - but I dont think he was wearing a burqa - either one that is

schools and college are allowed to make their own rules

one further education college you could get suspended for calling someone else a terrorist.
No aog - of the examples you give

the one on identity is relevant to identity and not security
unless you say you wanna be secure about her identity
There's one of AOG's threads with exactly the same title, in the Related Posts threads from six ears ago.

Maybe, like when comedians or pop stars get past their sell by date, we are getting reissues of the 'best of' AOG.
It would seem that 'Ugly Head' is AOGs catchphrase...

His compilation 'Gangs of savages roam the streetss' has a peculiarly repetitive beat

For more of a Bhangra vibe there's always 'paedophile gangs groom white girls'
/It would seem that 'Ugly Head' is AOGs catchphrase/

I wonder why ......

A new nickname for him perhaps? lol
'Paedophile gangs groom white girls' has got to be worth a MOBO award.
Aog can make his point however he likes, surely? And however often. I wasn't here 6 years ago, so wouldn't remember the previous thread.
I don't think it is a "freedom" to wear a veil. Just the opposite really. And is far more aggressive and fundamental, than fashion sense.
