This is the first year that I haven`t seen lots of publicity about what happened on 9/11. Do you think that people have accepted that it happened and there is no point in discussing it or is it that there are other things going on (Syria) and the world has moved on?

TV has had a week of commerative Twin towers. Its impotant that young minds learn of these events.

There has been plenty of programmes on TV and articles in the newspapers. Because the anniversary number is not that significant may account for an understated rememberance. The 15th anniversay will probably be the next time there is more of a splash. The 12th is neither one thing or he other.

It has been on facebook and twitter which is becoming more popular for media following of late.

As a retired Fireman, this "event" struck at very core. There were a couple or three programmes on various channels last week, some of which I hadn't seen before. Made it seem like it was only yesterday.

OK. Maybe I missed the TV coverage but there wasn`t as much coverage as in previous years. It`s shocking that it all happened 12 years ago. Where did the time go?

As an aside... here in the U.S. motorcyclists (Bikers for short) belong to one or more groups and one of those travel to every service man or womans funeral. Named "Rolling Thunder" they line the route for a couple of miles or more and carry American flags, which they silently dispaly. They're greatly apprecaited and very well behaved.

This morning (9/11) they had intended to have moderate sized gathering in Washington D.C to commemorate 9/11 but some ill advised fool in the National Government office declined to give them the prerequisite permit for a 'display', saying since it was a weekday it would tie up traffic to severely.

Well, the outcome certainly tied up traffic! They had originally expected less than 100,000 thousand and the entire thing would have taken about 3 hours.

As it was, the phone lines must have been burning up because an estiated 1.2 million bikers rode into town. No permit required for simply riding on the streets so no laws were broken... but it's going to take all day and much of tonight...

I think Gromit has hit the nail on the head. This isn't a 'significant' anniversary year. I recall quite a lot of media interest in 2011 (tenth anniversary), but to be honest, I don't recall the same level of activity last year...

That golf course ad was in bad taste, to say the least. But then again were some of the responses threatening to burn it down.

Peter Pedant - then again you could say _ I do have a television, I'm not blind, I`m not deaf and I can spell WTC. And I have been working on aeroplanes for the last 28 years so please don`t insult my intelligence by implying that I don`t know what I am talking about as far as modern day security risks are concerned. On the other hand, you clearly don`t know what you are talking about.
