Whilst his final resting place is still a hotly debated topic and as yet undecided, Leicester Cathedral have submitted thier plans, should their bid be successful.

IMHO it's a monstrosity, but it may appeal to some.

Seems to me it would have been sensible to await the result of the judicial review before spending money on plans, investigations, etc.

Could be a cunning pre-emptive ploy on the part of Leicester Cathedral to influence the decision, when it finally comes.
would it be rude of me to say, I care not a jot ? :)
This might cause a winter of discontent.
That's horrible
I am fascinated by the whole episode of tracing and finding Richard.
However, I don't understand the obsession with his burial plans.
It looks like a big bar of soap with a cross engraved in it.
... and planked on a rose-design soap dish....
Well it doesn't look fit for a king imo.
Maybe no-one has the skill to carve stone like they did in his day. Soap in a dish is a good analogy.
I actually think it looks ok. For someone who was king for 2 or 3 years 500+ years ago and who probably - despite recent protestations to the contrary - really did murder his nephew.
No matter what his final memorial looks like nothing will clear up what really happened.
Too much made of it IMO . The only thing the House of York ever did for its peasants was to get them killed, yet Yorkshire folk are suppose to be gettin' their knickers in a twist over where the bones should end up. Ditto the other lot.
I live in leicestershire and have been very interested in the discovery of Richard III, plans for re-burial etc but I don't like this memorial at all, the first idea was by far the best, very fitting and regal, this is far too modern and plain.
Yes that looks much more suitable, Ann.
Seriously Baldric. that's your cunning plan.
I don't like it either.
We think it looks like a slab of cheese which has been cut on one of those cheese boards with wire ................... Leicester cheese no doubt LOL ;)
I know I keep banging on about this but he should be buried in a catholic ceremony
I would hate not to be as I'm sure he would too
Its all about money, where ever he gets buried will become a tourist attraction and make £millions over the years. I am sure he will stay in Leicester but somewhere more suitable than the car park where he was found. But until it is over the lawyers will make a fat profit at public expense.
