Whilst his final resting place is still a hotly debated topic and as yet undecided, Leicester Cathedral have submitted thier plans, should their bid be successful.
I actually think it looks ok. For someone who was king for 2 or 3 years 500+ years ago and who probably - despite recent protestations to the contrary - really did murder his nephew.
No matter what his final memorial looks like nothing will clear up what really happened.
Too much made of it IMO . The only thing the House of York ever did for its peasants was to get them killed, yet Yorkshire folk are suppose to be gettin' their knickers in a twist over where the bones should end up. Ditto the other lot.
I live in leicestershire and have been very interested in the discovery of Richard III, plans for re-burial etc but I don't like this memorial at all, the first idea was by far the best, very fitting and regal, this is far too modern and plain.
We think it looks like a slab of cheese which has been cut on one of those cheese boards with wire ................... Leicester cheese no doubt LOL ;)
Its all about money, where ever he gets buried will become a tourist attraction and make £millions over the years. I am sure he will stay in Leicester but somewhere more suitable than the car park where he was found. But until it is over the lawyers will make a fat profit at public expense.
