EVERYONE surrounding this little boy let him down, including his 22 year old brother who saw evidence with his own eyes of severe neglect but did nothing.

mike I saw the news earlier, so sad, another life wasted.
The police apparently advised the father to go to social services and he didnt.
via the news on bbc earlier, the father said he phoned SS but they have no record of the call.
Isn't this just awful? People are just too scared to interfere these days, the school said they had noticed things!!!!!

If the father didn't phone Social Services surely the Police should have? Maybe the father was put off after his experience at the Police Station and felt he wasn't going to get anywhere.
Regardless, Police should have made a courtesy call to Social Services in any case, in light of the father's counter allegations.
It is all totally shocking. You can not understand how anybody would not just scoop the child up and walk out the door.
I read about this in the Mirror today and apparently there was a witness who saw the state this child was in a few times and also the disgusting state of the house. It begs the question, why didn't this witness DO SOMETHING ??!!! Another wasted little life that could have been saved.
I wonder if ''we'' as a society have some responsibility re the care / neglect of these poor babies/children , why are the relatives, friends. neighbours.health visitors, g.p's schools not alerting social services about these children, do we now live in our own little bubble and not wish to get involved anymore ?
I once emailed NSPCC in the early hours of the morning as I didnt like what I was hearing next door. The police phoned me a few hours later and had already called at the house. I think anyone with any concerns where children are involved should do something but sadly too often nobody does.
Agree with anna and grasscarp. It takes a woman to give birth to a child and a village to bring it up, we have lost sight of this these days.

When I lived in England, the landlady where I rented a one room, was a child minder, she had these poor kids sitting in the cold fireplace all and everyday, just playing with toys when the mothers appeared, and yes I called Social services and they stopped her, I of course got kicked out!
and when I was a nursery/first grade teacher here in Ibiza in a hippie school, one child came with a couple of black eyes, so I just told the parents that I was keeping a look out for him and they would be reported if there was any more damage to the poor kid, they were full of apologies and said he got in the way when they were fighting, he never appeared with such injuries again!!
distasteful as this is and I do apologise,,,,but unless this family were living in isolation in the countryside, the odour from the flat/house would have been horrific :(

My son put something dodgy on Facebook (I didn't see it) and the police were here within a few hours.

Lets not knock the police.
I'm not knocking the Police.

I do have reservations about their actions (or rather alleged inaction) in the this case though, as I'm sure their Chief Constable will.

Boo has it right. Everybody let down this child, just like they let down little Daniel Pelka. As a society we should be ashamed of ourselves.

I disagree. Those charged with the duties of and employed to specifically protect children as matter of course and professional responsibility failed dismally in protecting Daniel Pelka. It's being repeated in this case too.
As the saying goes, you never know whats behind closed doors, how very true that is. I feel so sad for these poor little children. Wicked!
But that's the thing pusskin, at least 2 people did, his brother and father- both did sod all!
Tch, your right Boo. It really is unbelievable to know that no-one reported anything. I still cant believe it, makes me feel so sad..
