Typical tory claptrap cause the suffering and blame previous. These people (who were not elected) have no compassion, benevolence or heartfelt regret. They are simply there to put us back where they want us (19thcentury) while the smug bastards live a life of carefree and pampered luxery, off the backs of society. That is their role in life and they aim to...

On a personal level, if you were unemployed, you could borrow to buy a new TV which would be foolish, or borrow to get your car repaired in order for you to search for, and get you to and from work. That would be an investment in your own and your family's' future.
i know most of the stuff as i have read others experiences and talked at length with my case worker, who helped me at the wretched tribunal. my first test was pretty much like the second, only the second i didn't score any points at all, yet the previous one i did.

read the link i have posted and then you will know why
but it could leave you in massive debt if you don't get work, or lose that job. that is the big problem with borrowing, there are no guarantees you can pay it back, i fell into that trap long ago and will never if i can help it make that mistake again.
DF i did, and do understand totally.
Maybe they just realised that you are a work shy good for nothing scrounger, and not one of the hard working people who do the right thing. Oh yes, of course, I have to add, " Up and down the country,"
i did work for most of my teen to later adult life...
That doesn't count now. Now you are one of us, a scrounger.
Good Heavens ! I agree with AOG, in his first post. What would a Labour government do ? You will find, as in all areas of decision making, that some decisions are wrong. There should be a mechanism to correct or appeal those. We have, I hope you will agree, a number of people who are claiming money from the public purse and who do not deserve it (including certain MPs with their expenses). These may well outnumber those who do deserve it, as of right, but that is no reason not to pursue the others nor to stop existing abuses.
i confess that i don't see myself that way, and if someone said it to my face, they would get a lecture.
this is a catch all test, already proven to be entirely a tick the box exercise, if no one believes those who have gone through it then hope you won;t have to.
Fred, the mechanism to pursue abuse is to make life harder and harder for people who DO deserve support.
The next move is to put job seekers in holding pens 9 to 5 Mon to Fri, not to help them, or find them a job, but to compel them to drop their claims.
Emmie no offence. I was being sarcastic. I am on your side.
Dennis Skinner is excellent (hear the link) but he uses an unfortunate example, suggesting that a man with cancer died because he had to live on £70 a week. If Mr Skinner has a complaint on that score, he should complain to the NHS. But if the appeals procedure is very long, clearly it needs attending to; why, anyway, is the rule that an appellant loses some or all of his benefits pending the appeal ? That seems to create a possible injustice.

He said no such thing.

What he did say was it is iniquitous to stop peoples benefits immediately they appeal until the appeal is heard, which can be many many months away.

Atos, not being a government department, can ignore FoI requests for information on their diagnostic criteria, for instance. Were you aware of that? I wasn't.
Atos are sold to us as being a sympathetic and objective assessment based upon medical and clinical presentation as to someones ability to work. Their is more than a hint of a suspiciion that instead they are rather more interested in assessing people as fit for work than clinical presentation actually says, because that's what they are targeted to do - save the government money.
In that case LG , what was the point in telling us that the man had cancer which ultimately took his life ? It was done for the emotive effect, and the innuendo that somehow the appeal delay and the cut in benefits were related to the death.
Of course it was for emotive effect! Hardly the point -What he most definitely did not say it what you accused him of.

And more to the point - it is Fluffing iniquitous to stop claimants benefits from the time they make the appeal to when the appeal is heard, most especially since these people are all almost always at the fringes of having enough money to live. And that is the point he is trying to illustrate.
In the article DrFilth linked to, search for a comment by 'nicco' "Yesterday at 8:59AM" (ie Friday).

(I was going to cut and paste the entire post but don't want to risk causing AB any licensing problems)

Is there any truth in the bit about the right to ask to have the assessment interview recorded and be given a copy of the recording?

Youngmafbog,Don`t think anyone would disagree with you but ATOS is a profit driven company with no thought or care to seriously ill people
