I don't know how this story passed me by.

This terrorist was in the country for just five days before murdering an 82 year old Muslim man - and then planting a series of bombs in mosques around the country.

How do you manage to get bomb-making equipment in five days flat, put the bombs together and deliver them?

Doesn't this suggest he was helped in the UK?

I think the story has gone 'under the radar' because he's only just pleaded guilty. Newspapers would be under the same reporting restrictions that apply to other cases which are subjudacy...(nope - I have no idea how it's spelled).

Bombs are not necessarily difficult to make. If you are hell bent on murder and destruction then you will also take risks reasonable people like you and I would not consider in order to get your 'parts'.

Hell bent nutters are difficult to catch if they do operate on their own as no warning can be picked up

bombs are easy to make. and even easier if you lived in a former eastern block country where access to info is more accessible than here in uk.

He murdered Mr Saleem on the 29th April and planted the bombs in June and July.
The news report says he ordered the bomb making equipment online.

beezaneez, I think his engineering background and qualifications (he was working towards a PhD) has more to do with his bomb making abilities than his country of origin.

Quite apart from the senseless and tragic murder of Mr. Saleem, the timing and indeed this guys history just seem odd to me. He murders a random muslim within days of his arrival, and then embarks on a bombing campaign on Mosques over the next few months.

He clearly has a hatred of muslims/islam, but I just find it odd that someone embarking on a new phase in their career - a promising one, by all accounts, given the fact that he won a scholarship - their hatred is so great that they murder and bomb in their spare time. Given his tutor in Ukraines professions of shock and disbelief, this level of hatred seems odd - I would have thought there would have been clear signs of it within his history.

And I thought Mr. Saleems daughters remarkably dignified in their comments to the press.

If you're going to embark on a bombing campaign, surely it would be better to keep your head down rather than committing murder within days of arriving in the UK???

This story was headline news for a while yesterday so hardly been ignored.

Appalling but not surprising: cold, calculating, intelligent, hate/filled individuals, wherever they're from - Doncaster or Dnipropetrovsk - are a menace and particularly dangerous precisely because they are acting alone and above suspicion.
He only needed a knife for the stabbing and it was several months before he set the bombs so time enough
