dont be daft, there are lots of us with part Scots lineage, who have mixed loyalties. I dont want to commit to one of 4 countries that bred me !
Zacs-Master, yes, it was an attempt at humour. 'Tube' is slang for an extremely foolish person.
Ah right. As in 'Alex Salmond' ?
It's better than most of the puerile sobriquets given him here.
It would have cost less to build a tube system! ;-)
I have to agree and here's a wee tip for you. If you're ever in Edinburgh don't try and crack any jokes about trams. The whole place is a shambles and the natives don't think it's funny anymore :-)
I know. I was there quite a lot last year. It took me half an hour to cross Princes St.

True Wharton, about trams. I am there every year and was gratified to see a tram in Princes Street. Closer inspection revealed that it was merely an exhibit so locals could see what a tram looked like; it couldn't go anywhere. I think it was there for over a year.
No no Fred, that was a real one! It had just run out of track.
I've warned you about tram jokes :-)
The main drawback with Scotland is that it doesn't have enough people. You can drive for miles without seeing one (people). If scotland goes it alone it could get some income by selling citizenships to stateless persons or set up training camps to save all that travel to Afghanistan and Somalia.
London tubes run well enough, most of the time, they are having upgrades at weekends, that does put a damper on things a bit, i try not to use it much at any rate. However the trams debacle was a lot of money wasted, wasn't it??
likely more English or other foreigners live in the Highlands, than Scots.
For decades the Westminster Government have been funnelling government departments to Scotland . This would cease and no doubt many would be brought back. The same thing applies to tendering for government projects, Scotland would no longer be on the preferred client list.
likely more English or other foreigners live in the Highlands, than Scots

any source for this rather surprising assertion?

I don't believe it's up to me as a non-Scot to tell Scotland what it should do.
I suspect that the Scottish people will vote against, but up to them.
Devolution has helped Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland so far. Maybe the English should try it too?
If Westminster told the truth about the income from oil and gas from the North Sea we would....ach, ah wis dreamin' there.
no need to lie, Scotland does not own the Norh Sea
