Not true. Honour killings are endemic within some cultures – his being one of them. It’s far from unknown.

It's known, but it isn't a reason or excuse. We should stop referring to them as "honour killings" too, as if that is different from murder.
As an individual adult-unless it's been declared otherwise (in which case, he can plead insanity), he is responsible for his own actions entirely. You can't blame religion for that.
Pixie, I understand what you're saying, and I don't blame religion for it - but I do blame a culture that indoctrinates its young from birth with the notion of honour that must be appeased.
Wasn't it him who brought 'dishonour' to himself and the family by associating with an unbeliever? It's a pity he didn't take the knife to himself if he felt so strongly about it.
