//Using text-speak, he said: "I'm going to put out a statement on the 18th just to say it was mega lolz. I do not know what everybody is getting so freaked out about."//

It's not just about the punishment. It's about protecting our children from someone, who in my opinion, could not be rehabilitated.
Thank God the Judges sentence and not a jury of ABers

The prisons would be stuffed to breaking point.
On the BBC link it says...

//He will spend 29 years of his sentence in jail with a further six years on licence.//
You have just disagreed with the sentence, Peter. You need to try to construct your argument with some intelligence and not by twisting our words and posts.
Peter...I've worked with Paedophiles. Some are a product of horrendous childhoods where they know nothing but being sexually abused. others are just born sick. Ian Watkins falls into the latter category. I doubt he'll ever get out.
Where'd that quote come from Ummm?
Rhetorical question -- I was just hoping that you'd made it up. If he said that...
My first on the page comes from Sandy's link. Just under the bold heading of 'Mega Lolz'

The second came from the BBC link that Bazwillrun posted a few Q's down.
The average time served for murder may be 11 years but this is not an average child abuse case.

From what I can see reading between the lines here we're talking about one of the very worst cases of child abuse and one involving very young children.

You have senior detectives describing it as the worst case they've seen in 30 years or so

Part of this sentence is specifically for public protection

"Ian Watkins is the subject of police investigations in Germany and the USA, it has been revealed.

Watkins was sentenced today (December 18) in Cardiff Crown Court and was given a 29-year jail sentence as well as an extended license for six years after pleading guilty to 13 sexual offences. The first of his co-defendants, referred to as Mother A, received 14 years in prison while Mother B was sentenced to 17 years.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Doyle, who was the Senior Investigation Officer on the case, has now said that the former Lostprophets singer is being investigated by other police forces around the world. "In the last few weeks we have received further information that will now be looked at by the investigation team," he said. "There are also investigations being conducted by other police forces around the world including Germany and the United States."
this person is a very evil man, and should never be released from prison, but accepting that he is evil, can someone tell me why the mothers of these children were given such light sentences, IMO they are more evil than this man, and just what excuse could they give for their involvement in this horrendous crime ?
-- answer removed --
Postnatal depression was the excuse I believe.
Only 35 years, got of light imo.
postnatal depression ? both of them, that is the biggest insult to mothers ive ever heard,
like i've already said..blame the lawyers for using every excuse in the book to get these vile specimens off the hook and it looks like to degree its worked

read the various statments that were made in their "defence"...a very unfunny joke sadly
Good.

don't read between the lines, read what the judge said. truly appalling.

I can't even open the links to read about it. That hateful man should be castrated and hung outside the prison walls.
All this talk about the length of the sentence pales into nothing besides the accusation that the Police have cocked up again :::

There will an investigation of course but the Police will almost certainly get off scot-free...again.
