Not me. Always thought they looked and felt cheap and just...wrong, somehow.

I do. They feel just fine, and not at all cheap - unlike a shabby, creased fiver. There's no special mystique to paper, except that we're habituated to it.

I suppose English retailers will offer 95p in the pound cos it looks a bit suss an that. Their grandads didn't foight in three world wars to 'ave them yoorows tell vem wot to do.

Can't see the problem personally. They last longer, they're harder to counterfeit, what's not to like?

I had an Irish (Northern) £5 note a few years ago, they're great. You can crumple them up all you want and they spread out like new!

saw some of the trial notes a few years ago , they felt iffy but I suppose we will get used to them, we have got used to small pennies and the half crown going, together with the ten bob note.
When you could go to the pictures, get a fish supper, 20 fags and still have change from a pound for the tram home.

I'm neither looking forward to them or dreading them. To me, your question is akin to asking me "Are you looking forward to the new packaging on toilet rolls?" i.e. I regard the change as completely irrelevant!

I have some Australian and Canadian notes which are very good. They feel fine and last much longer and don't get dirty and tatty quickly. Apparently the security features are much better as well.

Totally agree with Methyl as regard £1 coin and the £5 note. Both hould be scraped immediately and the £5 coin (preferrably smaller) be used as a replacement.

I do. (carry cash) Will be happy with placcy money, I don't like filthy crumpled paper stuff. I have and spend £50's with no problem, the shops check them but have never refused one, if it did I would refuse to shop there.

They were issued in NI a while ago and since withdrawn from circulation. If I saw a sackful in the street I wouldn't walk past it but I'm not particularly looking forward to seeing them again.

I went to Mexico last year and they has plastic notes there.

There was not a problem using them at all, and you can fold them any way you want and they don't crumple.

I think you would get used to them straight away.

I am just surprised that we are lagging behind a country like Mexico.

Maybe Mexico wanted plastic because it offers a smoother flow when they're rolled up and used as a straw to snort South American pharmaceuticals.
