Agree entirely with your sentiments posted at 12.05 pm emmie ! It does not do the 'locals' or the immigrants any good at all if certain areas are being swamped. i.e Hospitals, Schools etc cannot cope any more because of numbers....

London? Which London ? You are in a different London if you live in Chelsea or Knghtsbridge rather than Elephant and Castle . And there are many shades of quality in between; Putney, for example..

Mind, if you want to avoid foreigners, live in Wimbledon. Why? A local agent told me that the better houses in Wimbledon are being snapped up by people who have sold up in central London or who can't afford the current prices there. And who is buying their houses? Foreigners !
If Chipping Norton is bad what must Chipping Sodbury be like?

London's no surprise. Certainly been to a lot worse places than High Wycombe, though. Slough, for one, Milton Keynes, Hemel hempstead, Aylesbury...
Chesham! (oddest place in the world)
Tell me more pixie.
My daughter lives in London, and wouldn't live any where else at this time. She considers Plymouth where I am,to be a cesspit....
She agrees rents are high...but accepts that as normal for a major city. She and bf rent a house, and are currently seeking a third tennant....
at a rent of around £750 for a small room. Shocking, but people will and can pay.
So they interviewed people from around the country and asked them to talk about where they lived. Then they put together a list and asked people to vote. From that I`m getting that the people that voted didn`t necessarily live in the places they voted for. That`s not exactly an accurate picture is it?
Must say that Chipping Norton sounds dreadful. Just think of the self-satisfied, "celebrity" neighbours you'd have. All of them the kind who buy a bit of land and pretend that they are farming types, true villagers, real countrymen and women, a pretence only equalled by Marie Antionette dressing in traditional garb and having her very own little farm at Versailles.
Utterly ludicrous. Chipping Norton? York? And London is so big it surely defies generalisation. As for Gibraltar, which isn't even in the UK ...
Syria, - both now and for the foreseeable future.
They`re right about Gibraltar though..
So we're agreed then. Complete cobblers.
Dingos Kidneys of the first water ...
Elucidate please Dave
It's an expression used by Douglas Adams in 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' to describe something worthless or nonsensical.

some obviously didn't bother to read the thread, the reporter said she was surprised at York being listed, however is any area perfect, no of course not. As to Gib who knows why that was listed. As to paying rent of 750 quid, was that a month, if so that is low in most parts of the capital, and you have to have three renting to pay it, absurd.
We didn't need to read the link. It was obviously cobblers from other peoples posts. If the reporter was also surprised, why print it?
@leahbee

//Bradford. Most people I know who live here will not own up to it, they always say Yorkshire.//

I seeeeeee. So that's what that means. [Grin!]

//Once in Saudi Arabia I said I was from Bradford and the Arabian gentleman I spoke to said " oh dear "//

[even bigger grin]

Thanks for raising a smile today.

because i thought it might be a bit of fun, interesting, sorry you don't think so.
Hypognosis,
I am so glad I made you smile
Me, I could cry when I go into the city centre (which is not much these days )
I say there is no contest Bradford is definitely the worst place to live. Why is it the butt of every comedians jokes.
That's my moans for the day over, I'm usually a cheerful soul.
