The following appeared for less than 1 second during the last episode of 'Sherlock'. People watching in HD who paused a fake newspaper read...

// “A new plan by the current Mayor of London to turn the Thames into a bustling water-bound version of the M25 has hit rush-hour traffic as reaction has been damper than a dip in the rat-infested drink.

“The hair-brained scheme involved chartering disused boats, paying for their conversion into a version of London's famous bus, the Routemaster, but this plan has already foundered after pilot schemes revealed that customers were walking straight off the boat and into the icy currents of the Thames.

“When asked to explain how the system might move forward, or even be profitable, or perhaps even to explain the point, the Mayor, who was at a self-promotion event, was found to be dithering, incoherent, and self-interested.
“He said, "Well the fact of the matter is that Londoners need to recognise our great naval history, rather than naval gazing, and this will get the traffic moving while invoking memories of Nelson and the like.

Huzzar!" //

A bit of fun, or Boris bashing by the Beeb?

Though strictly speaking, the lead Production company is Hartswood not the Beeb.

Whoever went to the trouble to enter a fictional report on a page of a fictional newspaper, so that some might watch this in HD and then go to the trouble to freeze frame the scene, so as to read what it said, must be very desperate to get their own particular political point over.
When I worked up in Town during the late 80's, there was just such a scheme in operation, using catamarans, called the River Bus.

I have just found this by googling River, Bus and Thames :::

Sounds like an excellent idea myself.
/Whoever went to the trouble to enter a fictional report on a page of a fictional newspaper...../

well they would want to avoid the sharp eyed viewer seeing a real page from a real paper for several reasons

so if you have to mock something up anyway you might as well have a bit of fun with it.
Well, as usual, some will take offence at anything, things like this often happen. Try pausing the old Simpsons startup cartoons you will find a reference to the NRA on the till!

But, it is not wise for the lefty-liberal BBC (who should be impartial) to be broadcasting something like this. You would think they would be a bit more careful.
Maybe number 10 had a hand in this. They must see Boris as a menacing 'Prince across the water'.
animators have long put gags into single frames of cartoons which have been visible only to the sharp eyed or those with their own projectors - imagine Betty Boop going commando.

These days it's expected that nerds with HDTV will examine every frame of everything in order to post stuff on imdb, and production designers will often throw them morsels like this to keep them interested.
I have been thinking about this today and in my humble opinion Boris is of the mind that says...any publicity is good publicity. He does, after all, have a sense of humor...what else could explain his relationship with his barber ?
If Boris ever makes it into Number 10 will his barber be in line for an honour?
"imagine Betty Boop going commando", Oh go on then!
mikey, I believe some politician tweeted today that if Cameron's barber got an MBE for services to hairdressing, Boris's ought to get an MBE for services to comedy.
A bit of fun :) Must admit, I missed this particular frame when watching the show - I think it is pretty clever.

That's funny :)
