No - AOG actually raised two questions about this film.
They were the same question - in summary, "Should films like these still be made".
I think the difference is that Gromit is celebrating a great British success, whereas AOG was questioning why this film which he hasn't seen, should even be made.

/// They were the same question ///
Wrong two different questions, asked on two different occasions each asking the question on the need to make such films and not on a simplistic subject of a film being nominated for awards, a thread which incidentally didn't even carry a link.

If Gromit's question should have appeared in the Media section, the so should yours.
You were specifically asking whether this film needs to be made. The subject of your question was the film, and it's legitimacy.
The subject of Gromit's question was the film's success.
Both Gromit's question and your two (near-identical) questions are news stories, and belong here.
They could easily appear in the Media/Film category, but they don't have to.
I am sure that you would agree that a nice positive story about successful black Britons makes a nice change to the usual narrative on the News section.
By the way AOG, I apologise for referring to Steve and Chiwetel 'Britons'. Please insert any adjective you wish to use to describe them...

In the Guardian's news section? And attracting 130 posts in the AB News section.
I confess I haven't seen this film, but welcome its success since the main star and director are British.
I realise this is a feel good story, and some people don't do feel good.

/// Diminishing Saving And Record Personal Debt ///
/// It's The End Of The World...///
/// Immigration Still At Hundreds Of Thousands - And Rising. ///
i think that is enough to prove my point.

"Each asking on the need to make such films..." but not the same question. Yup. ///
But each one in response to additional news stories, that is the difference, all news stories are updated on the provision of additional information.
If you're not prepared to accept that, then I am sorry there is nothing further that I can add.
Better get back to Gromit's 'News Story' I am sure that is much more riveting than all these diversions.
Why should I help him to achieve maximum feed back to a 'non news story'.

AOG is giving up because he knows he's been found out.
He may have asked the same question twice, but thinks that because they were prompted by two different news stories, it somehow makes his questions different.
Of course, you and I know this is nonsense, but the question really isn't about his duplicated question (easily done to be honest - especially when you have such a keen interest in all things to do with race and forget to monitor one's previous submissions to the News section).
But like you, I'm still baffled as to why AOG believes that his questions based on news reports belong in News and Gromit's don't.
Anyway, that's by the by...I welcome the success of the film, and being a patriotic sort, am keeping my fingers crossed that it will do well in the Golden Globes and Oscars.
Just wish that some others who profess to be patriotic could show the same spirit.
Anyway, we're about to stick the film on now.
Let's hope that after all this, it's not crap!

Well, I think we can be fairly sure that Chiwetel Ejiofor is well on his way to his first Oscar nomination.
Just seen '12 Years A Slave', and whilst there are some people, who don't understand why these films are made, and choose not to watch them, I strongly believe that we've got a couple of serious British talents to be proud of (Steve McQueen and Chiwetel).
Think I might take a walk to William Hill tomorrow for a quick tenner bet on the 2014 Best Actor / Best Director Oscar winners...
