Where is his father?

Why would a child of that age get dressed in his coat, gloves and shoes?

How did he manage to open a strong closing door?

Why did his mum last check him at 9pm, unless of course she went to bed herself at that early time?

The heading to this thread "What could have happened to this little boy?" is a phrase chosen entirely by the original thread poster. But Chewn gets a rollicking by asking "do you really want us to guess?" shouldn't it be the OP who gets a rollicking for headlining his thread with such an insensitive question. after all, there are only so many options before you are faced with the elephant in the room.
The most obvious options are - he has left of his own accord and got lost,a family member (dad?) has taken him or a stranger has taken him. Does that answer it, chewn?
I sincerely hope it's a family member, as he is more likely to be safe, although the mum must be tearing her hair out, not knowing. I can't think of anything worse. Fwiw, i only check on my children once asleep if they're not well. Otherwise, they will let me know.

Yes I read this earlier and thought why didn't the motorist stop and held him until they called the helpline, but then what could one do in such circumstances, what would you have done?

*** "The witnesses were in a vehicle driving down West Pilton Gardens at the time they saw the boy. They described seeing a small boy on the right hand side pavement running towards the junction with West Pilton Park. ***

*** "They noticed him because he was small in build and alone at the time. ***
AOG, no I don't stick my head round the door if all is quiet.

I wouldn't want to disturb a sleeping child and cause them to wake and cry.

But thanks for your concern.
I tend not to stop three y olds and say
hello little fella ! are you alone ?

and you know, I have kept out of prison...

High chance that if not found at 48 h the child is dead.
not much update at the latest police news conference @ 6pm. but it would appear the child has not been at nursery since xmas because he has been ill,
I would like to make it absolutely clear that if I saw a small child, out on his own, in the middle of the night that I would most certainly stop and question him . And if I wasn't completely happy with the response, I would be dialing as fast as my little fingers could type.
I would be very interested in anyone who behaved differently in the same circumstance.
Does anyone know what time it was that this "sighting" occurred ?
it was by a motorist at 8,30am on the day his mum alerted the police.
Thanks Ann. So, it was at a time when lots of people were on their way to school or work and would or could have seen the same boy. Strange that there was only one sighting then.

The "timeline " in this case just isn't making sense. I fear for the worst...I hope I am wrong though.
I have just had 2 plain clothed policemen at my door asking how to get into the garages and bike stores at the back of my flat. I live nowhere near where he vanished from but they must be checking absolutely everywhere. There is a massive police presence all over the city tonight.
I hope the wee soul is found safe and well. :(
sorry to digress, but voddy - long time no see!
Our hopes and prayers are with this little lad. I just wish I felt more confident than I do.
Me too Mikey :(

Hi Boxy x
there has been some speculation that a family member may have taken him from the house, but only speculation, I hope this is the case because the alternative would be dreadful.
The elephant in the room may be emerging even as I type.
sorry mike, I don't understand your reply :(
