So sad for the little boy and his siblings. I hope the person arrested isn't the mother (or father).

jomifl, the point I'm trying to make (badly!) is that in this country we have the process of law which means that everyone accused of a crime is entitled to a fair trial. My concern is that the public are already acting as judge, jury and executioner of the mother when she hasn't even been charged yet.

I agree, it's not looking good for her but I still think we should stand back and let the law run it's course.

Personally I am concentrating my thoughts and sympathies with Mikaeel and those who loved and cared for him. I cannot imagine what the family are going through right now.

such dreadful news, I think like many others we hoped a family member has maybe removed this wee boy from his home, but was being cared for.i never thought he would be dead :( RIP.

My theory is that the child was taken to Kirkcauldy 4 weeks ago when he first was not at school. There is a report of the 'absent' father seeking custody of the child, presumably to take him back to Pakistan . I think the mother took the child to Kircauldy to keep him away from the father. Then the father either found and killed the child or the mother killed him rather than let the father take him to Pakistan.
We only have the Mothers word that the child was put to bed 2 nights ago and had vanished in the morning. I think she took him away 4 weeks ago.

There is a lot of speculation on this thread. Understandable under the circumstances, but should we not wait until we know the whole story before making judgements? RIP Mikaeel

Kirkaldy is over 20 miles away from Edinburgh. The police didn't suddenly decide to switch their search, they were acting on information from the mother. Expect an arrest soon!

Are you really saying that any comment made about the mother is unacceptable?

Was my comment about her inaccurate or blasphemous about her?

I really do think that you are being ultra sensitive....yes. yes we all know that it involves the death of a child, but does that preclude anybody from commenting on the mother?

I do sometimes wonder about CB.
