Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Any Worse For The Number Ten Police !
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -260936 95
These offences came to light as a result of investigations into the Plebgate affair. The Police seem to be getting completely out of control.

No SqaD you are guessing
" and had been disciplined for spending too much time on the internet at the Royal Alexandra Hospital......" is from Bilal Abdullah - now spending 32 y as a tax payers guest. and that was 2007
People commonly take their own lap-tops into work with a dongle
and yes you are correct there is then an issue about data confidentiality....

Ummmm...none of us know what the exact nature of the porn was, nor frankly, do I want to know. It was serious enough to get three serving Police officers arrested, so I think its safe to conclude that it wasn't pin-ups of Betty Grable.
But why are you saying that it was "probably nothing shocking ? "

Even in the Sopranos - yeah ok I know it wasnt real - Meadow tells the kid that there is gonna be a sweep by the FBI - and the kid says so ?
and Meadow says they will find all the pornography on your computer....
I dont suppose that someone in the public interest will leak these photies -after all as we have heard they arent THAT bad....
tell you what - I was lying in bed this morning (lying geddit ?) and felt something in my hand ( watchit watchit clam down) and it was a phone ! And I thought I was at 10 Downing st and look ! there were three disgusting photoes on the handset.
I think I am going to have to email my MP - not not with the photos - those photos - I think I might do a dead sheep to him instead.
They are gonna say they were off duty when they accessed them
almost as good as making luuuurve with your trousers around your ankles so that you can later swear in court that you had control of your gun !

Like Sandy, I would be pruriently curious as to what constitutes "obscene" pornography sufficient to be arrested for :)
As to the specifics - For the Met. to have arrested these officers, the smart phones in question were presumably police-issue, and sharing/viewing porn on workplace computers/ phones would be a misconduct issue in most large organisations, I would have thought.
I would not say such a case indicates that the police are "out of control", but it does point to management problems and a culture of elitism within closed "elite" groups, such as the Diplomatic Protection Group, although I am assuming here that the DPG is essentially a tight-knit group of officers, rather than just your average bobby being drafted in to serve for a period of time.
Hard on the heels of plebgate though, it does seem careless - although maybe this issue has arisen because the Met has been more closely scrutinising these particular officers in the light of the allegations over the conduct of serving police officers within the group rather than being an example of a more endemic, general malaise.

/// People HAVE been dismissed for downloading porn to NHS work computers, sqad - I've seen it happen in my own organisation. ///
And quite right too, those are 'works' computers but I would have thought that they would have had some kind of filters to prevent such misuse.
But I would have thought that these were personal mobile phones, and I suppose this sort of thing happens all the time among some males.
Should all mobiles of serving armed forces now be scanned, I bet they would come up with similar images on these, i wouldn't imagine that they would prevent these men from carrying out their duties, no matter what their occupations.
Where will this kind of thing end, what if they come across some 'naughty' words or jokes in their text messengering?
