Would that approach work in the UK ? No, not now. There will always be some to whom it would appeal, but they are surely in a diminishing minority

This is what Putin said:
/// Russian President Vladimir Putin said in October that everything was being done "so that participants and guests feel comfortable in Sochi, regardless of nationality, race or sexual orientation".///

And this is what Blatter said:
/// Blatter was heavily criticized for saying they should "refrain from sexual activity" if they go to Qatar because homosexuality is illegal in the emirate. ///

AOG seems like both you and I are deemed by sp to talk nonsense - while I respect sp and his views, it appears this is not a two way street, he resorts to the "putting down" method. SP I was going to ignore your unwarranted remark to me (not that I am bothered by it ) but you have to respect other peoples views (do I sound like your mum). By the way, I consider you a gay activist on this site.
No AOG
The law bans the promotion of homosexuality to minors. However, the new law has been written with such vague language (ie. what is 'promotion' it is now illegal to hold any sort of public demonstration in favour of gay rights, speak in defence of gay rights and distribute material related to gay rights, or to state that gay relationships are equal to heterosexual relationships.
In order to enact that, the smokescreen of 'distributing to minors' has been erected.
The results of this can now be seen across Russia, where it has become more dangerous to be gay, because their President is trotting out the old line that gays are recruiting kids.
That's what it boils down to.
I will say this once again - the wording of the law is criminalising gay people.

Among that legislation I still cannot see proof where Putin has suggested that gays are recruiting kids.
Perhaps you would care to provide that proof?

Exactly!
That's how vague the wording is.
I can interpret it one way, and someone else can interpret it another.
The undeniable fact is that this law has introduced a framework to allow interpretation, and the Russian authorities have taken it to mean that the 'distribution of propaganda' can mean speaking out in favour of gay rights at any time, anywhere - even if there are no minors around.
Do you think that's a good thing?

Just recalled something you wrote yesterday.
"he is referring to the possibility that their propaganda may sway their sexuality"
But today you write:
"Among that legislation I still cannot see proof where Putin has suggested that gays are recruiting kids."
Which seems like a contradiction.
Also, you write:
"Yes I am afraid that all these so called minority groups do nothing to foster understanding, due to their refusal to accept that some outside their particular groups may have hold some different opinions to themselves."
AOG...I would really like you to understand that a) gay people are a minority group rather than a 'so called minority group' and b) minorities should not accept opinions that to against the idea of equality.
If, for instance, someone says that gay relationships should not be recognised by the state, very few gay people will accept that. And loads more straight people will agree. What certain people don't understand is that their views are on the wane, and that younger people increasingly reject the idea that being gay is 'wrong' simply because they have gay friends, gay relatives and gay colleagues.
