Poor Animal And Damn Zoos!
Why, why why? They were offered a home for this poor giraffe but they still destroyed it despite protests and people trying to find a new home for it! This is why IMO zoos should not exist, what care do they give for animals in this sort of instance, it's appalling the destruction of a life that should not have been held in captivity anyway...b'stards!

Many of them, London Zoo included, are extremely careful not to inbreed, and will import new blood, or send their animals to other zoos/safari parks. They have also done sterling work in saving endangered species and returning them to the wild (the oryx in Arabia, Przwalski's horse, etc.), and if they weren't able to do this (ie with the giraffe) it could have been neutered and kept, and a lot of kids would have not been upset by seeing a sight like this.
