Ed gave dave three opportunities to answer the question about the 550 forthcoming redundancies in the Environment Agency. But he sidestepped each time. If "money is no object", why are these 550 front line staff in the Agency going to lose their jobs ? What happens next winter, when we have serious flooding again ?

I don't know how true this is,but someone told me that London is due to get more spent on it because more people are affected.
Is this so...*are* more affected? So the folk in Somerset,Cornwall,Devon are nonentities?
fbg, I would refer you to my OP. I have every sympathy with the victims, except those who want my tax to pay for their new carpets, where insurance should be forking-out.
Judging from the majority of posts, it's clear that there needs to be some quantifying of DC's comment. I think he said it to get everyone off his back and as a possible vote winner (election next yr let's not forget) but didn't think it thru and could have the opposite effect, on both counts.
