It's like my 18 year old son leaving home and expecting merged finances! They surely didn't imagine that they could stay in the pound, did they? seriously? Still they may be allowed to join the Euro eventually till then they can create their own currency or perhaps just use the pound anyway like they uses the dollar in many countries of the world. Hang on, use the dollar, the septic will be delighted.

It is most unlikely that an independant Scotland would meet the entry criteria to join the euro. (Mind you, many of those already using it only qualified by means of some very creative accounting, but I think the checks may be a little more stringent in the light of recent events).

Slightly off topic, but another myth promoted by Mr Salmond and his cronies is that Scotland would be granted automatic immediate entry to the EU (they envisage a "seamless transition" to becoming a member in their own right within 18 months of independence). This is hugely doubtful and, at worst, could be patently untrue. But it could, of course, prove to be a blessing for the Scots and if it transpires I might consider moving north myself .

one good thing will come out of this, there will no longer be any argument about whether Scottish bank notes are valid.
English retail outlets will accept Scottish banknotes in exactly the same way as they currently accept Euro banknotes.

Not after independence jeffa.

What The Funicular takes Euros? I've never seen a shop that takes Euros. For one thing it'd be pain in the arris doing the banking.
They could get the Greeks to break away and form a new currency union, an amalgam of their currencies, the "pounddrachmascots", also known as "Sharp cut sad condoms"
So the "Condom" it should be - very apropos for that slimy toad, the Wee Fat Haggis.

I shall arrive "sans papiers" (having chucked them down the kharzi of the 10:00am Euston-Glasgow Virgin Express as it passed through Carlisle) and claim asylum on the basis that if I return to England having fled to Scotland I shall be persecuted for my heterosexual practices. I shall thus be granted a council flat in the Gorbals and 200 McFivers a week to cover my living expenses. Should work a treat !!!
gosh NJ, do you think i could come along too, this place is getting so crowded
