Most of them just get on with their lives, much the way I do.
It is a shame that these fanatics and extremists are making things so difficult but I certainly don't feel threatened by them, or Islam.

Few support the idea of complete freedom of speech. usual examples given are shouting FIRE in a crowded theater when no fire exists, or enticement to riot. Those sort of things. It is always a question as to where to draw the line. For sure it is a controversial distinction to make, but maybe it is considered that pushing for Sharia law is akin to encouraging the overthrow of our existing system and it could be argued that it is not so far from riot/rebellion limit. That said the 5 year thing sounds a bit of an unsatisfactory compromise. It should either be something allowed, or something banned. It implies to me that the decision was not made purely based on the act of promoting a particular belief after all.
They are trying to achieve a muslims only policy for that area (we know it as a 'no go' area. Where were the councillors (they run tower hamlets) = most probably agreeing with them. imo. I used to love Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road (which has the finest pies and mash) but I would never venture down there again - such a shame. I would have given them 15 years apiece.

HC, gosh, so many objectors from just one university! How enlightening! Those depicted in Emmie’s video posted at 18:36 Fri 14th Feb 2014 feel that the rooms provided are not adequate for their particular brand of worship. These people are laughing at apologists like you. I would suggest that they are intent on creating disharmony. In short, they are troublemakers – and in saying that I am exercising my democratic right to free speech.
You are quite free to call me an apologist, naomi, but my point is specifically about the news item I linked to and nothing else.
I am totally against fundamentalists and extremists of every creed, colour and religion but I don't meet an Irishman and think 'IRA bomber', nor do I meet a Muslim and think 'dangerous extremist', nor a boy scout leader and think 'pervert'.

If you'd been one of the people they threatened, you probably would feel threatened by them.
Good result. The fewer bullies and thugs on the street the better.

TTT, my original intent was to find if other ABers think it is right that the UK can ban the freedom of speech from individuals for 5 years.
Freedom of speech. Not harassment, threatening behaviour, assault, murder, bombs, terrorism, incitement of racial hatred, the burqa, ghettos, no go areas, praying in the street - just freedom of speech.

even freedom of speech has it's limitation. i couldn't stand on a street corner and denounce my neighbour because of his faith, i could but chances are someone will ask me to stop or whisk me off to the cells
These people are just a small example of what is wrong with religion,
and quite frankly i see many of the the adherents of Islam just another long line of people we don't need. You say moderates, but in truth that is not what i see, do you really like to see women dressed up in this way,
because i don't.
