SP, yes, but if a man refers to his ‘wife’ in her absence, how will she be perceived? I like being defined as a woman because that’s what I am. Attempting to eradicate definition of gender is simply ridiculous. Whatever their sexuality, men and women are different - no question about it. This is a nonsensical politically correct step and it's a step too far.

That has got to cause confusion, for example someone comes to your door asking you a question that needs to involve your partner, and you say "wait a moment I will ask my wife".

Yes Jack, one couple I know who are CP's and shortly to be married both refer to the other as "my husband". Don't see a problem with that at all.

Just to get it straight in my head, in the future and depending on if we all get married, I may:

1) Ask Splat how his husband is.
2) Ask Jack how her wife is
3) They could ask how my 'wife' is and snags would just have to put up with it? Awesome! ;o)

Seriously, I read the article and unless I'm missing something (highly likely), I don't really see the problem; Splat calling his husband 'husband' if they marry in no way takes away from what I would call my husband, we'd both be married to a bloke so clearly we'd both have husbands. Also, my definition as 'wife' is the same as Jack's missus who is obviously her wife. I don't understand why this would cause a problem or why anyone would have a problem with it. So maybe I have misunderstood.

And reading the article, it just seems fairly sensible what's being done. If the king decides to marry his prince then that would be the kings husband and not his queen. That just seems logical to me.
