whilst the age of consent in turkey is 18, marriageable age can be as low as 16, with court approval. plus, sex with an underage person where the age gap is 5 years or less (as in this case) can only be prosecuted upon the filing of a complaint.

I'm not sure tolerant is the right word at all. I'd be very worried about a 16 year old girl, who clearly has problems, marrying anyone - least of all someone from another country and from a completely different culture. I hope I'm wrong, but it appears to be a disaster waiting to happen. If babies are born, and the marriage fails, things won't bode well for her or her children.

Jaydene, and perhaps it will, but i suspect thinking on what it was like being 16, believing you own the world, she may not see what's really going on.
These cases often come apart at the seams because the cultural and religious differences are involved, which can be too great, add in children more problems if it falls apart
