Should he now be 'fired'?
What I can't understand, this has been his profile picture on Twitter since September but it is said that it has only recently been brought to light.
His excuse was "I am running for election this year and I think the opposition have picked it up and are trying to summon up some dirt about it".

LazyGun - "I can only speak from personal experience here, but I know 2 judges sort of socially, both of whom shoot regularly - clay pidgeons and hunting mostly, but one attends a firing range too - and both have probably got photographs of them with a gun in hand. Are you saying that neither of these guys should be considered suitable material for being a...

/// Now we are getting to it, I think. ///
What because that is almost everyone's image of a terrorist at the moment, going back a few years it might have been different.
/// What did you think of the picture I posted a link to, AoG? ///
Since you chose not to comment on the two links that I provided I don't see why I should, but I will, individuals posing for pictures with a guns in a country that has completely different gun laws to our own is nothing new, and we are not likely to set on such individuals as magistrates to rule in our courts.

You have shot yourself in the foot.
The picture you posted is of a car park attendant in Colombia, not a terrorist.

Perhaps the reason why you fear this LibDem councillor is because you think all foreigner with guns are terrorists?

This is just a big old LoL. I have commentated on your links, haven't I? At least by inference, if not by anything else.
And it seems you believe that the colour of this mans skin coupled with the pose with AK 47 renders him unsuitable for the post of magistrate simply because it "fits everyones image of a terrorist". So it is perfectly OK now to judge someone purely on their appearance?
As for my link - it is a picture of Senator Gabbie Giffords, from the US - a nice lady shot in the head whilst out canvassing. The country she is from is immaterial. If shown the photo alone, without knowing the individual concerned, you could have no idea which country she was a citizen of.
To me, this seems a non-story promoted to media attention by virtue of the colour of the mans skin, which automatically makes him a terrorist suspect.
I think that pretty sad, to be honest.

@ Gromit - oops. Thought it had isolated the image.
This is the one I meant.

Eh? I think the stars and stripes on the policeman's uniform is a bit of a give away.

Of course it doesn't automatically make him a terrorist suspect, you are just being paranoid, but you must admit that the pose sets himself up to be viewed as the stereotype terrorist.

Seems to me that not everyone are so accommodating as some on AnswerBank.
/// Labour councillor Mr Bayliss said: "He's in a position in the public eye. He needs to exercise judgement whether he's in this country or not. ///
/// "This suggests to me he doesn't exercise very good judgement and I think he needs to reconsider his position as both a councillor and a JP (justice of the peace)." ///
