I have been accused in the past of being disingenuous by describing UKIP as BNP-lite but this link clearly demonstrates that some voters at least, have deserted the BNP for UKIP.

PP...I was not suggesting that anybody be banned from voting for any Party it likes, and nowhere in any of my posts have I suggested such a thing. I think you know that really, so I am surprised that you should say so.

Education is everything in life. We live in a country where people are free to vote for whoever they wish, but they should make informed choices. The briefest of researches would uncover the truth about UKIP, as I have demonstrated in my posts this morning.

If there is evidence to the contrary about UKIP, and they are not allied to the worst kind of ultra-right politics, someone needs to bring forth the evidence and we can discuss it !

On a serious note Mickey I agree with your take on the far right. It is very worrying but it has been caused by extreme liberalism particularly from the EU.

Farage is answering a want. He is not far right and its far better it is UKIP and not the likes of the BNP that attract the attention. Some othre parts of Europe are not lucky enough to have a UKIP so the far right sweeps up the vote.

Svejk...in order for UKIP to form a coalition with Labour, they would need to gain some seat first. At present they have exactly none. Not even a little one. According to Electoral Calculus, they still won't have any seats the day after the May 2015 election, so any thought of a coalition is pie in the sky.

Never thought we were "lucky" to have UKIP ymb, although I appreciate your point. But the rise in the far-right really is happening and we shouldn't shut our eyes to it. They aren't going to go away if we ignore them. It could be argued that there isn't an incredible difference Labour and Tory
( although not very enthusiastically by me ! ) But what is going on in Europe should concern us all ::

TTT...how would voting UKIP in a General Election in Britain achieve the goal for getting us out of Europe ?

If UKIP had a real chance of winning the next election, then Farage could start to win that goal. But UKIP are not going to win. If voters REALLY want Britain to leave the EU, then a vote for the Tories would make more sense.

There is ample evidence that voting UKIP actually increases the chance of a Labour win, and there no great enthusiasm to leave the EU with the Labour Party. Why can't people see that ?

History has taught us that extremist groups gain support when the general public are feeling like aliens in their own land. I wonder how that could have come about. The cause of the rise in popularity of the far right is a direct result of the activities of the left.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, Mikey, it is well known that UKIP want to regain control over who is allowed to settle in the UK (and that almost certainly requires our withdrawal from the EU as no compromise on the free movement of people will ever be countenanced). Are you in favour of the UK being forced to allow the right of anyone within the EU having the right to settle in the UK? (note, I am talking about the free movement of people, not of labour, as the two are not necessarily the same thing).

Some voters have also deserted Labour* for the BNP. Why don't you call them Labour Lite?
