We haven't heard what either of the pupils have had to say about the "relationships", or what other statements had been gathered about the teachers involved.

No two cases are identical.

Unless you really want us to agree that women get an easier time in court?

/// Cunningham, a teacher for 20 years, was jailed for 12 months in 2010 after he pleaded guilty breaching his position of trust as a teacher by having sex with the girls. He completed his sentence earlier this year. ///

/// He was jailed for a total of 20 months, disqualified from teaching, and ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register for ten years by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC. ///

/// The judge told him:” "These were serious offences. You were the head of music and aged 39 and the girl was aged 16 and a half and to whom you were in a position of trust. ///

OK I think I understand, so as a teacher one should never enter a sexual relationship with a pupil, whatever their age (I stayed at school until I was 19). I suppose that's a given. Were they not involved professionally then a 16 year old boy and a 26 year old partner is OK or at least won't get you on the sex offenders register?

/// No two cases are identical. ///

That is exactly the point, these three involved 3 male teachers who were jailed and the case I posted on was a female teacher who did not get jailed.

/// Unless you really want us to agree that women get an easier time in
court? ///

In this case she did, would you care to give a few examples where female teachers have been jailed for having sex with their 16 year old pupils?
Those men were 58,39 and 43. Personally I think that's a big difference compared to what appears to be an immature 26 year old woman.

Prudie...yes, if the boy wasn't her pupil the relationship would have been legal.
AOG, it must be lovely to live in a black and white world.

If you would read what I have written, instead of what you want it to say, you will see my point is that there are many different factors to these cases. We (the public) don't hear half of it due to the sensitive nature of the "victims" and the need to protect them from publicity.

Exactly, 2sp. We haven't read all the text messages and communications between the teachers and pupils. It might be the case that the male teachers you linked to, AOG, were considered more manipulative and of a grooming nature. Also I'm sure their ages were taken into consideration...

Now don't bring colour into it. :0)

ummmm

Stop digging, I think I have proven my point.
Proven? How AOG?
Yes, i think a man in that position would more likely be jailed. He would be seen as a wider risk. I think she hasn't been because she's female. There would be more of an uproar if a man had escaped jail.

I'm not digging. We don't know all the facts the judgements are based on.
This male teacher got a suspended prison sentence:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/teacher-terry-mann-gets-suspended-288002

He was 45, the girl 15.

Each case is judged on its own facts; no two cases are the same.
They didn't have sex, hc.
What does this mean then?

//But he escaped jail after insisting they were in love and waited for her to reach 16 before they had sex.//

They were waiting for her to reach 16th birthday. There were just texts between them.
Ah, sorry. Reread it and i think you're right.
