I would say so.
I don't see why not, unless you know something we don't.
I don't hink having your career taken away from you is getting off lightly, and I am sure a male teacher would have deservedly suffered the same sanction.
Career destroyed
Criminal Record
On the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of her life

yeah she was really let off lightly
Why a criminal record, she was 16, no laws broken from what I can see?
Sorry, "he" was 16!
Abusing a position of trust.
Ratter

teachers are subject to specific laws 'Abuse of Trust' etc
That's what I thought too ratter, OK she has abused her position of trust and for that she has been punished but at 16 he is not under age of consent surely? Most 16 year old boys are at it, at what age do their partners become icky? 18, 19, 22???
snap! ummm :-)

a very nice female teacher at our local school was done for this - and she didn't even consulate (though it appeared she was planning to)
Mr P was 17 and I was 26 when we got together. Not really a big deal, but if I had been a teacher and he had been a pupil I dare say I could have found myself in her position.

She is guilty of abusing her position, regardless of his age, but if he had been under 16 I would hope that the punishment would have been more severe. Not that I think she's got off lightly at all.
It becomes 'icky' when you can't send you children to school safe in the knowledge they will not be forming sexual relationships with their teachers.......who should know better!

i think the idea is that when you put your kids into the care of their teachers, you have the assurance that they will not be 'preyed upon' by people placed in a position of authority over them.

Mind you, when i was a 6th former one of my mates bedded a very attractive young teacher at the school and we all thought he was a Hero!
I don't think she's got off lightly either, I just don't understand why she had to sign the sex offenders register.
You are right Eccles but that didn't answer my question, 16 year old boys with their non teacher/doctor/inappropriate partner becomes unacceptable when he/she is how much older?
any teacher guilty of 'inappropriate sexual relationship' with a pupil is considered a 'sex offender'
It's got nothing to do with age, Prudie. It's the fact that she's his teacher...
Prudie, outside of an environment where the adult has a duty of care then it comes down to maturity.

I can only assume 2sp encountered a very mature 17yr old, when I was 26 all the 17 yr olds I encountered were irritating little twerps.....although after the rat kicking incident she may still agree ;-)

This 16 year old was considered a child.
