His press conference tonight.
Sorry you didn't like the food matey but better than being dragged from your home, in front of your young children, tortured and executed by the IRA - the people who, again, you said today you would never disassociate yourself from.

I had similar ungracious thoughts when I heard the poor little chappie was being questioned up to 17 h a day to wit: did you give Mrs McC any breaks other than the breaks in her fingers before shooting her? She as a widow of a serviceman had put a pillow under the head of a wounded soldier outside her house. Everyone knew she was beaten to death for doing that and a...

He looked a bit shell shocked at the press conference. Maybe he couldn`t believe he had got off..
Oh I expected he thought he would. Whatever the truth of the matter for pragmatic reasons the stability of the area is paramount. It affects everyone. Justice is further down the list.
Very true OG.
nothing harder than getting a politician type to tell the truth.
O_G, well said
i find the whole story very odd. the kady's daughter on the news telling them "she's ready to tell the police who dunnit"
if she knows, why wait?
if she is only guessing, how is that any different from me guessing?

to wit: did you give Mrs McC any breaks other than the breaks in her fingers before shooting her?

She as a widow of a serviceman had put a pillow under the head of a wounded soldier outside her house. Everyone knew she was beaten to death for doing that and a similar fate would await anyone else assisting or first-aiding troops

no one did

The info was then spread that she was a police informer ( when she wasnt ) and that was why she was killed. Everyone knows that if you are beaten hard enough, you will confess to anything to make it stop. [ The Americans are re-learning this in Guantanamo ]

The one year old - [at the time] has said -OK come around and kill me if you want. I will speak out. But it can only be hearsay.

The 11 y o ( at the time ) is so freaked by the threats made at the time, he has said he wont. Kind of a pity, since he was an eye-witness to the abductors and can identify them.

My sympathies are solely with the McConnell family [ RIP ]
He knows what he has done and it will haunt to the end of his days. The particular crime in question was one of the most horrific crimes, at least Jean Mc Conville is at peace and will never see him again as she is in Heaven!
It may not be over yet as the evidence is to go before the CPP to see if they think a prosecution would be likely to succeed. (It wont!)
caribeing, are you suggesting that Gerry adams -
peacemaker
leader
visionary
may not be going to heaven?
Gerry Adams a veritable saint walking on this earth - will not in another life go straight to heaven ?

I cannot believe what I am reading
am I right in thinking some of the above remarks would not be tolerated on AB If it were anyone else, ( I am in no way standing up for GA, but I believe he has at the moment been released ) ?
he has been, however to answer the question as to why no one will talk, fear of being murdered. Her son said so, if you read what they did to him as a young lad, the fact remains that he is out, that doesn't mean to say he is innocent. This will be a hard one to call, because a couple who had made witness statements years ago have since died, and those who are in the know won't say. the peace accord was brokered on the back of many murders of innocents, in Ireland, and on the mainland, i always think that to call it the troubles smacks of some minor skirmish, it wasn't and isn't.
GA and his colleagues are such nice people. they are such nice people you'd never want to hang them by certain bits of their anatomy and leave to die. would you?
the thought had crossed my mind, but you know what why stoop to their level, i am only concerned for those who have had no justice for their innocent loved ones, who see these people walking the streets or in government and wonder quite how this came about.
far too many, and its not over yet, as Sandyr will i am sure agree,

http://www.wesleyjohnston.com/users/ireland/past/troubles/troubles_stats.html
quite right emmie. really just want justice for all those poor families who suffered.
And into the ring steps his partner McGuiness with a few veiled threats - about the peace treaty being threatened -
which is enough to stop this in its tracks, the British government don't want this as they believe it could derail the supposed peace accord, i wonder at what cost.
a nicer pair you couldn't wish to . . . . . . . . . .. . .
