Interesting YouGov survey published this weekend :::

http://yougov.co.uk/news/2014/05/16/bulgarian-and-romanian-immigration-worries-diminis/

It seems that Farage's attempt to play the race card isn't having the effect he hoped it would. The Far Right have always appealed to the same set of people, just as Mosley did in the 30's and John Tyndall in the 60's and 70's.
I have warned on AB many times before that we ignore the rise of the Far Right in Europe at our peril.

Here is another example of how UKIP is failing to reach the parts that other Parties reach :::

The blind leading the blind.
If they were peaceable and easy to get along with, I wouldn't mind at all.

I have lived here 35 years and there have been some harem scarem neighbours, none were Romanian.
DrFilth...it would seem that we have outlawed the signs but the racist and ignorant thinking still continues to thrive. I am just glad that my old dad is not around to see things today....he would have been appalled at UKIP and the like.

100% of UKiP voters don't give a toss about economic policy.

Potential UKiP voters want out of the EU and lower immigration. That is all they are interested in. That poll which you seem to think is significant, is just pointless and proves nothing.
Gromit...the Poll, and others from YouGov prove a great deal.

They prove that the 13% of people who are Polled that say that they intend to vote UKIP at next year's General Election are ignorant of pretty well everything. The position that they are most ignorant about however, is that their votes are wasted, because on the only issues about which they are interested in, keeping foreigners out of Britain, and staying in the EU or leaving, cannot and will not be solved by voting for UKIP. Sorry to sound like a stuck record here, but I repeat, their votes are a waste of time.

Of course, I support their right to waste their vote, if that is what they intend to do !
"Sorry to sound like a stuck record here,"

Tell that to Mr Milliband Mikey

// They prove that the 13% of people who are Polled that say that they intend to vote UKIP at next year's General Election are ignorant of pretty well everything. //

You think that only applies to UKiP? I am sure a high percentage of votes for the 3 main parties come from ill informed, ignorant and uninformed voters. They will vote for X because they always have. Or that Mr Clegg is good looking. Or their newspaper tells them to.
It is clear you are well informed about politics Mikey, but you are in a very small minority. For most people, it bores them and they don't understand it - so they are casting their votes based on something else.

A vote for UKiP is not necessarily wasted. It depends from whom they take votes. A strong vote for UKiP this week coupled with a poor showing for the Conservatives will have repercutions about the Tory manifesto, the next leader, defections and rebels and Cameron's credibility.

If the Conservatives lose votes to Labour, that can easily be explained away. If they lose significant votes for UKiP then that puts the Conservative leadership under pressure.
I must say, although I loathe Farage and think what he said was rather stupid, it is wrong to call him a racist. Sure, his party has attracted a lot of racists, but I don't think Farage subscribes to a view of the world where people are ranked according to their race.

He does, however, spout somewhat bigoted views, is extremely dishonest with his facts, and appears to be not in the least bit bothered about his own failure to control his party.
Gromit...we are in complete agreement, at last...well, on your last two paragraphs that is !

Vote UKIP...get Labour ! Perhaps I should be cheering the ghastly UKIP on !

Where can I get one of those Pound Shop badges ?
Kromo....if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...guess what ?...its a duck !

Handsome is as handsome does. If he spouts racist nonsense, then he can hardly complain if he is brought to book for it.
No problem, I have a few Romanian friends, lovely people. They can live next door to me anytime!
On another subject...we discussed the truly horrible EDL recently, here on AB. Somebody informed us that the EDL are not fielding candidates in next week's Euro elections. I wonder what party their supporters will be voting for instead?

How many will vote BNP and how many will vote UKIP ? Is there any EDL supporter here on AB that is willing to put his head above the parapet and enlighten us ?
The EDL is a protest group not a political party. They have never fielded candidates in elections. Knowing one or two EDLers, and having had a visit from their rabble to my town I don't think any will be voting UKiP. The overlap with the BNP though is overwhelming.
As I thought Gromit...thanks ! They seem to have disappeared since their former leader went to prison.
no i would not. i am surrounded by polish are they are dirty, thieving and disrespectful. if they are anything like that, then i am not interested thanks.
It seems to have passed you by, mikey, that your beloved Labour Party cant stop apologizing for its past, mistaken, immigration policy and has repositioned itself as the 'tough on immigration' party.
And you've got some chutzpah talking about ignorant people blindly voting. A labour supporter in Wales, lol.
I thought things were bad on site when you could no longer leave your tools in the changing/drying room. Now you cant leave your dirty/wet working clothes in there. Canteen, cant leave your sandwiches. Cant even leave a pint of milk for your tea, they will guzzle the lot before morning break.
Some bring traditional music skills neglected by todays youth. This enjoyable film was on TV recently.

I like that film.
Exactly as sp says. How on earth could you know before meeting them? I'm unsure of the phrase "suddenly moving in next door". Suddenly?... Do people usually have warning and counselling for new neighbours, then?
