/// The statutory school age in England, Wales and Scotland is from 5 years to 16 years. In England term starts in September, the entry year is reception (R) and children must be 5 before August 31 the following year. ///
//how do you account for all the knife and gun crimes committed by black gang members//

AOG, I think that black gang members only account for a small percentage of 'black' people. When I lived in Peckham it was the black kids that were dressed correctly in school uniform, and generally well behaved. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the 'white' kids.

Much is down to the parents, but we should also help with such institutions as Grammar schools to give the children encouragement, hope and a way out.
They don't join gangs at the age of 5.
I wouldn't bet on that umm, especially if siblings are in one.
What use is a 5 year old to a gang?
/Notice when a dignity visits a classroom, who do they generally pose with for their photo-shoots? /

That's more for the benefit of the 'dignity' (sic) aog

Can you explain to us how the occasional photographing with dignitaries of a few kids from ethnic minorities can explain these statistics of the overall population?
aog, I don't think your last post was meant for me?
Me...I think. They start school the Sep after their 4th birthday.
I am gratified to be mistaken for ummmm.
// In England term starts in September, the entry year is reception (R) and children must be 5 before August 31 the following year. //

So they are aged 4 years when they start school.

I do apologise of course it was meant for ummmm.
If they constantly have to produce for statistics for absolutely everything then over analysis will tend to happen; someone has to be at the top and someone has to be at the bottom. Maybe there is no rhyme or reason - its just they way it is. This is not to say in 5 years time these statistics will yield the same results.

There seemed to be conflicting information on this subject, back in 2003

It would seem that 'special measures' indeed took place back then, I wonder if the problem of White kid's underachievement will now also take place?

/// New data from the annual pupil census confirms the picture to be complex.
While Chinese and Indian children achieve better exam results than average,
children from Black Caribbean and Pakistani backgrounds do significantly
worse. While over half of White, Indian and Chinese pupils now achieve at
least five good GCSE passes, the same is true for just three in ten Black
Caribbean children and four in ten of those of Pakistani or Black African origin. ///
