Its difficult to believe that such wickedness could exist in such young boys. They have ruined the rest of their lives, in a few moments of madness.

Ah yes boys being boys fights did break out from time to time, but strict rules were enforced, no biting, no kicking, no tugging of hair, no spitting, no scratching and if one knocked his opponent to the ground, one could not carry on the fight until one's opponent got back on his feet, usually these fight ended in an amiable way with both participants shaking hands.

Now a wrestling fight was a different matter entirely, generally started off by the first managing to grab his opponent round the neck and forcing him to the ground. this type of fight could not take place on a Sunday since there was a risk to one getting one's 'Sunday Best' in a mess.

/// AnotherOldGit, I am giving an overall picture to those that choose to wear rose tinted spectacles about how violence is a new issue and did not happen 'when they were a lad'!! ///

Who are those who have chosen to wear rose tinted spectacles, or who have even hinted that violence did not happen when they were a lad?

Please furbish me with examples please.
So so sad. Scarily, gang culture seems to becoming more widespread :(
