I don't think he will stand this side of a General Election. Better to let Cameron lose, then the party will ditch him. A new leader would be chosen 4 months later at the Party Conference. Between election and party conference, a London MP could stand down allowing Boris to return to Parliament not tainted by the Coalition. The MP who stood down woyld be rewarded with the next early bye election and some shadow cabinet role.
ladybirder...I think you are right. Boris will be ill advised to make his move at this time. His friends are almost certainly telling him to keep his powder dry until after the May 2015 election. He will not want to be part of the debacle associated with a Tory election defeat and he knows that there will be plenty of time left for him to make his move for Leadership afterwards. But he should be keeping a eye on Mrs May, as she will be his strongest opponent to succeed dave. She has that ruthless manner of which the Tory Party used to overflow with until a few years ago !
